Example:
SWfanboy1: GameX 2 is gonna be awesome! GOTY contender for sure! I can't wait!
SWfanboy2: This game will be terrible, consoleX = owned! Shovelware FTL lol!
SWfanboy1: Oooh Look, I'm SWarrior2! I love going on internet message boards and complaining about games I've never played!
I think most people on SW would probably side with SWfanboy1. Right? But why? Both of them are speculating on games they haven't played. They're both equally silly, which I think is okay. I think we should be free to have our own silly opinions, I'm all for it. But why is the negative one always the unreasonable one, and the positive one is accepted? Here's why: because some of us here on SW (won't say who) are insecure about their beloved platform, whatever it may be. Let's just be not so hippocritical guys, k?
Let's extrapolate on that discussion a bit more:
SWfanboy1: GameX 2 is gonna be awesome! GOTY contender for sure! I can't wait!
SWfanboy2: This game will be terrible, consoleX = owned! Shovelware FTL lol!
SWfanboy1: Oooh Look, I'm SWarrior2! I love going on internet message boards and complaining about games I've never played!
SWfanboy3: This is a sequel to a game that sucked. GOTY? u crazy?
SWfanboy1: Stating your opinion as fact = fail.
Again, most people on SW would side with SWfanboy1. How dare he state his opinion as fact? But wait a second... isn't saying something "sucks" an opinion statement by nature? No? Well if you think no, then here's a challenge: think of a situation where saying something "sucks" is a fact. An actual evidince based fact. Even someone saying "Big Rig sucks" that's not even a fact. And no I don't mean the literal version of "sucks", pervs. So when someone says something sucks, lets just assume he's not confusing games with vacuum cleaners, k?
What are some other dumb yet accepted arguments you've noticed?
