even though i was never really into it to begin with. it was still somewhat interesting, making me want to know more about it. but XNA people!! what a kick in the balls to the Ps3 huh? any type of game anyone can think up can me made by them and put on Xbox Live to be played by the community of 360 gamers...WTF? the 360 isn't playing at all. the ps3 only has one game giving that(with a wide array of plush doll figures to choose from as your lead characters:roll:) and now the 360 has anyone willing to make a game making a game and putting it out to the public to play. that's a big smack in the face to Lil Big Planet. take it off the must buy line-up of ps3 games for 08'. i just got through watching the GDC MS keynote and the walkthrough of the XNA and Zune additions is nothing but aggressive and i'm loving the smug look on the faces of the speakers while telling about it. screw a blog...wetspot96
Are you seriously comparing a map editor to game dev tools that require knowledge of programming and code?
Have lemmings become so deluded?
Yes, yes they have. They want to feel a sense of ownership to something remotely if at all similar to LBP. What better way than to bash it?Are you seriously comparing a map editor to game dev tools that require knowledge of programming and code?

The way of the fanboy.
Dev kits VS games FTW!
oh for f' sake not again.
seriously guys theres already a thread about this rediculous comparison that, just like this one, makes absolutely no sense.

I agree
 I knew lemmings would do this... Its not even comparing the same thing ...
Little Big Planet = 1 game type, made for PLAYERS to make thier on creative maps.
XNA = Developers to make thier own games, not players.
They are not even related in the slightest sense whatsoever ....
Good luck making your own XNA game, if you thought Flash was complex think again.... its not something you pick up and do, it takes yers of self-taught ( or College/Uni taught) skill to make these games... ( Different for person to person obviously.
Which reminds me, you know what would rock? The Incredible Machine on XNA. I knew lemmings would do this... Its not even comparing the same thing ...

Yea, someone will no doubt make a copy of that :P
wow, another damage controller trying to compare two totally different things...
but both seem very exciting to me.
Little Big Planet is all hype, and "other people like it, so I do too!".TerroRizing
it's all hype because it looks like a great great creative game that you can enjoy with your friends...
peopl that lack creativity or friends will have less hype for it no doubt.

The difference is there are millions of Flash tutorials and guides online. Flash has the advantage of being out for years now, it's been refined and mastered by people over the years. XNA is brand new, and doesn't have the resources of an established userbase.

Although I highlighted price point as a bad thing for xna development it's still far, far cheaper than flash development. Macromedia charge way over the odds for their software, knowing full well it has no decent competition when it comes to flash.

It doesnt look fun because they havent shown anything that looks fun, they just said it would be fun and hyped it up. Some of us actually see how limited it all looks.

That is true. You can pickup a slight discount if you're a student, but it's still the cost of a console itself. XNA is good for it's price point, but it's still never going to touch Flash.
And technically it's now Adobe that owns the software since they bought out Macromedia.

It will probably be much better than flash, even if its only visual basic lite.
Exactly. LBP main attraction was the user creations, but those user creations are within the LBP world. With XNA user created really means user created. So there's not a list of things that you could mitch match and make it your own like in LBP, there's things entirely different or anything you could think of that you could have with XNA. You could even make those LBP rag dolls in your XNA. Awesome!
Both cows and lemmings are foolish if they compare LBP to XNA. XNA is not a game.
LBP will be amazing. XNA is a great way to make small games, but don't you need to know how to do basic programming an such?

go to ign.com or wherever and watch MS's keynote and see all the things and types of games you can make on XNA. little big planet is not impressive anymore....period. yes it's apples and oranges but the possiblities and exposure lemmings can get from taking advantage of XNA is exciting. the 360 is basically birthing the next generation of game developers for future great games, lighting that spark. XNA addition is valuable...Lil Big Planet is a game.

Who cares? If you want to make those games, get an open source C++ editor, download the Source engine, and do it yourself. That's the same amount of effort you'd have to put into an XNA game, anyway, and at least with open source tools you'd have complete control over what comes out.

lol, looks like you don't get it either. it's a great addition...people will see it, hear about it, get interested in it and the next generation of game developers are born along with tons of games along with them to try. a great addition, very smart. not just keeping gamers gamers but inviting them into the industry. very smart and attractive. yes there's a difference...yes the comparison is slim between the two...but thats my point. LBP doesn't look like **** anymore but was hyped as innovative, that it "COULDN'T BE DONE ONTHE 360" and now in one day the MS squashes all the nonsense and brings XNA to the table with no chance in burning H E double hockey sticks of going multiplat. it does more than LBP and adds to the system in a big way. map editor/make a game...hmmm...yes the comparison is very slim and that is why LBP is off the must buy of ps3 08' line-up. but those plush dolls are cute...
