Listen kiddies, PS1 JRPGs were the shizzle back in the day. Suikoden II is one of those gems. Before today, if you wanted to play this game, you had to be willing to pay at least $120 to get it used. But no more!

Of all my years at KONAMI, I think the biggest request I’ve received by volume is Suikoden II. The “little RPG that could” released in North America in 1999 with a now infamous few units produced. Prices of the title have surged in recent years as fans and would-be fans have had tremendous difficulty securing a copy of the venerated title. It is then with great joy that I am able to announce that *deep breath* Suikoden II is coming to PlayStation Network as a PS one Classic in North America for the first time on December 9th.

I remember talking about this game with my friends about 8 years ago when we were talking about old games.

It's games like this that we all know, for a fact, that the PeopleofWalMartBox fanbase just wouldn't get.

I see, Vita is for playing PS1 games.

How glad I bought this useless machine when I can already play them with my PS3, or if portability is the concern, PSP.

It's idiotic to complain about how a system has barely anything to play that a 16 year old game being re-released is a thing to celebrate?

Yes, you're obviously the weird one...

While this quote from SolidGame_basic seems totally normal: "also, if people diss my Vita, I be like "yo, the Vita has games" and then I'll name a bunch right in their face to their awe."

How do PSN Classics work? I want to buy like 12 - 15 of them but they seem to be tied to the PS3 console? Would it be like PSN/XBLA games where they flat out won't ever work on a different machine? Or if you buy a PS1 Classic, is it available on a "PSN Account" that can be accessed from multiple devices? Like PSP, VITA, PS3? Is that too hopeful?

Thanks for any help, I got lost and confused when I last Googled this...

Any PSOne Classic you buy is technically cross play, and works universally across PS3 and PSP. Theoretically, they also work on PS Vita, but many of them aren't officially enabled on there yet (in North America; Europe gets all of them, as I recall).

To be concise: No, it's not like Virtual Console where your purchase is tied to your system. You buy it once, it should work on any machine, sans PS4.

they are tied to the account and you can have up to 3 devices with the same account.

But if for example one of the devices breaks you can always deactivate the account for that device on sony's website.

They made it like this because people were abusing the system and sharing games, DLC, etc. like crazy

Just a word of advice, PSOne Classic implementation is very patchy on Vita, so if you own a Vita and were planning on playing some of these games on it on the go, I'd just double check online to make sure they are playable (assuming that that was a selling point for you).

Specifically about this, I believe that it allows up to three home consoles and three handheld devices linked to the same account for a total of six.

I wish these classics were getting some form of visual update. Old PS1 games look like a blocky mess on HDTVs. It's more ideal to emulate these games on PC, but finding a copy would be way more expensive.

You should play PSOne Classics on Vita, they look beautiful there.

As for Nintendo's selection, I usually find that their NES, SNES, and GBA games look very pretty on screen. N64 games look like a mess though, yeah.

@SolidTy: the demand for 2 will probably top off, causing the price to go down. I don't think it will go down to the point of being super cheap though. Maybe $60?

When thinking about things I would rather do than play a old ass JRPG..............I came up with this list.

Clean up dog shit.

Masturbate in front of Kinect.................while Twitched.

Invite my parents side family over for dinner.

Punch myself in the balls right after a vasectomy.

Ask the bearded lady at the carnival on a date.

Buy a PS4.

Start a profile on Christian Mingle

Vote.

Move to Liberia

See if I can swim down to the Titanic

Get a tattoo of a Kitten on my back

@SolidGame_basic: one of the greatest rpgs series ever! Used to own both ps1 games on disc before selling my collection of 70 some games for $5 per game back in 2001...facepalm. I still have suikoden 3,4,5 and tactics on ps2. Wish they would release on ps4.

Suikoden 2 will be on my vita next week, can't wait! And suikoden 1 on the store is more convenient than ps3 transfer.

Without fail, every single comment of yours is negative as ****. Stop depressing people with your shit for a few seconds please.

I'm sorry for making you cry. I will try to make happy comments later on.

Of course, it would have been easier if Sony didn't abandon Vita users like me in first place.

FINALLY

Play the first game before II. There's a lot of references, characters, and just general shit that will fly over your head if you missed out on the first game. It's very much worth playing!

Oh Konami, one day you'll return your former glory. :(

it's good to play the first one because if you recruit the 108 characters the stats and equipment for certain members carry over to the sequel, and you can unlock the protagonist of the first game with the save data and make him join your army in part 2.

If any game deserved to be in a remastered collection, it is the Suikoden series, especially with the little things that transfer between the games and the fact that Suikoden 3 never made it to PAL. Suikoden 3 was my main reason for importing a NTSC PS2 and I did not regret it :) Any word wheter or not you can import your Suikoden 1 savefile to get Gremios recipe? ;D

Not as good as Suikoden II.

Both have their convoluted story problems and Xenogears is unfinished.

It's not showing up under new releases, and when I do a search I get nothing. Have you found it on the store yet?

Yes, I'm trying to find it in the store on my vita. If I buy it through the link will it show up in my downloads or how will that work? thanks in advance!

Edit: I get an error when trying to add to my cart.
