Super Mario 3D All Stars announced!

Why didn't they do this in earlier gens post N64/GameCube, I do not know (hell, they could've updated the original All Stars when they re-released that on Wii). But hey, glad they at least got some solid games in there, but I fear how SMG1 is going to play without the Wii controls. Yikes...

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is coming to Switch, Nintendo has announced. It will include Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Here are the first details and trailer:

Optimized versions of 3D Mario games Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy are coming to Nintendo Switch in one package. In addition to having higher resolutions than their original versions, the games have been optimized for a smooth gameplay experience on Nintendo Switch. Super Mario 3D All-Stars also includes an in-game music-player mode to play the music and songs from all three games. Players can also listen to music on their Nintendo Switch systems when the screen is off. A limited production of Super Mario 3D All-Stars launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family of systems on Sept. 18 and will be available until approximately March 31, 2021.

The Mario Direct wasn't bad. I'd love a chance to play Sunshine again.

Seems kind of weird to call it All-Stars when the original All-Stars had new graphics.

As much as I like Mario and prefer Nintendo over the competition, I really don't need this. Have access to all of these.

Ok... they price that at $60 and that's actually fair. I expected them to individually release them at $60 each given their recent history.

3d Mario package is an insta buy for me. I may also check out the Nintendo New York store stuff lol.

They better rerelease all those rereleased games on the Switch Pro as well. Don't forget to charge $60 btw. Its what i want. Its what every Nintendo fan wants. Nobody gives a damn about new entries in the series and new franchises. Just give me what i've already beaten and charge my ass $60. Thank you and have a nice day.

What a great week its been for announcements!

I have not have not had a chance to watch the video yet, but did they say anything about the digital version. Will we be able to redownload after the March 2021 cut off date. I hate buying physical for Switch but I may have to here.

Well they are doing that with Super Mario 3D World. 1 game, 60 dollars.

Maybe they think if it's older than 1 gen it's not worth charging full price for one game?

Nintendo hasn't ever released a Zelda game on a console/handheld more than twice.

But yes, I'd also love to see the TP and WW remasters appear on Switch.

I never played Sunshine so I’m really looking forward finally playing it. Mario 64 and Galaxy are just amazing games so it’s always fun to play those again. Only 15 days away too. Woo hoo! I know what I’ll be buying this month. 😁

Wow I'm very disappointed to be honest. When I first heard about Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1 getting remastered, I thought that they would get the same treatment as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy. But instead they are just the same games. Seriously what a joke. I never thought I would say this but I have more respect for what Activision did then what Nintendo is doing right now.

Lol. I already got my pre-order in for the 3D All Stars. But I intend to actually play it. Never played Sunshine. And having 64 and Galaxy is awesome too. Sucks we didn't get 2.

Actually he is right, re-releasing old games without any upgrades is sad, and its only an amazing announcement if you're a Mario fanboy, not a gamer.

$60 for 3 ports is highway robbery. Why are Sony fans called cows again? Nintendrones are the ones being milked.

There's no reason these couldn't be sold for $10 each on the eshop.

You need to pay again for the VC if you moving from Wii to Wii U due to nintendo used to tie the purchase to the console and not ID, am I correct?

The worst kept secret of the year. I'm happy it is finally announced and I will definitely grab it. I love Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. I do wish it had Galaxy 2 on it, but maybe it will be released later. I will pick 3D World+ up later. Never played that one.

It's a shame they didnt give them more of a polished upgrade. like Zelda WW and TP HD.

update the textures and so on (i think sunshine and galaxy already run at 60FPS on their original hardware mind).

Maro 64 especially could do with some attention. its from the era of Blerg 3d graphics. pretty cutting edge at the time. a landmark title of course. but not a game that has aged well in the visuals department.

.....controls could probably do with a bit of a once over also.

anyway i dont see myself getting this. have my wiiu to play Mario 64, galaxy 1 and 2 on. For those who havent played them 2 great and 1 solid games. sunshine is a bit of an odd duck but still fun.

I was talking more like the remaster on 3DS, instead of emulation. Wind Waker and TP are remasters too on Wii U.

But Mario 64 seems like a port, and not a remaster. So the lines are getting blurred.

Not buying it, I have no need for straight ports. Still I think this should have included Mario Galaxy 2, a bit of an odd omission here.

It should have included all the Mario games. Not interested in a piece meal approach.

They are remasters with updated controls, something the old games were criticized for, mainly SMS, and SMG had the nunchuck thing going on, and it worked ok, but regular controller is much appreciated for these games: some of the best 3d platformers of all time.

Any true platformer fan should be super excited for this.

@briguyb13: There aren’t too many platformer fans these days. The games are too hard. Look at how bad most of the popular streamers are at Fall Guys ffs. Gamers in 2020 want cutscenes, QTEs, skill trees and romance options. “Hardcore” vs “kiddy” is on full display these days.

I am surprised that the Super Mario 3D All-Stars does not include Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Was it sheep who bought TLOU on PS3, then a few months later on PS4? Or GTA V on PS3, then a few months later again on PS4?

Well, made the pre-order. Sorry, but I want a physical Mario 64 in my hands without the extortion from scalpers and having Sunshine (speaking of scalpers, let's still try and wipe the GameCube hate from history...) and Galaxy 1 (the best one of the Galaxy games, my opinion, don't @ me).
