the levels in this game are so well done. everything just comes together perfectly . the graphics are stunning and breath taking . I have no idea how nintendo pulled this off on wii hardware.

I cant remember the last time i enjoyed a game so much. this is a must by game its up there with mario 3 .

What do you think of this game?

i really have not played anything that compares to it on any system

It really is a masterpiece. The levels are designed well, the platforming mechanics are flawless, and the game is hyper creative, it's the only ten of the gen for me IMO.

It was pretty good. Not a 10/10 for me though. Always feels fresh, no levels felt the same. Some levels were really good but didn't have enough stars to get on them!

It's a great game, and certainly the best to have been created by Nintendo. By extension, it is the best game ever created.

It is quite simply the best platformer around, I agree its a masterpiece. This game feels alive, amazing that in a game that focuses so little on narrative and forced segments the personality of the game shines so brilliantly. It is in my opinion the best game of the generation and a significantly better game than the original to boot.

I don't think so, the Galaxy games just do nothing for me at all.

SMBW on the other hand was a blast.

Thanks for pointing the obvious, TC. I think this is one of, if not, the greatest game released this generation. It's one of the few games out there that can engross the player into the game without a complex plot.

it was good but imo didnt deserve a 10. smb3 and world were still better imo. It just feels like the game was holding my hand all the way through, even when I got to the last world I couldnt really believe it since it was still so easy I guess. dont get me wrong apart from the non increasing dfficulty the game was great though

Eww, NSMBW was a really good game but it was no where near the polish of Galaxy and really the rest of the series as a whole. It stil had some badass level design even if the art, music and first 3 worlds all sucked.

Perhaps it is, but I just hate platformers. Ever since the change to 3D, it's been blah for me on them.

I don't know where people get the idea that SMB3 and SMW were hard. SMW is a piss easy game and SMB3 has like 1 stupid difficult word (8 which wasn't even that hard), 1 legit difficult world (7) and one awesome world 6. Some of SMB3 are literally boring throw away levels.

Depends on who you are. Frankly I think its better than Zelda (Zelda is overated) and its too different for comparison to Metroid.

I don't know where Nintendo come up with there idea's, but they must have some of the most talented game designers in the world.

I don't think the reused anything, every level was different and unique

The only game that ever deserved a 10 from GS

SMG2 is significantly more difficult than SMG1, and the level design is much better, IMO. It did deserve a 10. If I hadn't gone on vacation, I probably would have close to 242 stars by now.

Best Platformer ever, its a shame that genre holds little weight when your past 10-12 age range maybe... I dunno, Mario does nothing for me now, so the best platformer ever means very little! Short game aswell, with no real replayability, a nice one time experiance. But best game I ever played? it does rank in the top 50....

They may be talking about the secret levels (can't remember what they were called). Those were hard. Anyway, hard doesn't mean better (for the most part).

There were like 3 hard levels in the Special World. The real problm is people think that their platforming skills didn't improve with age and experience. they clearly did, I had trouble with those games when I was a kid, I can now safely say that they are so easy its insulting (granted ease isn't something that bothers me). And yeah SMG2 is way harder than SMG1 and the design is a lot better too. I believe it is worthy of the 10.

SMW secret levels weren't that hard though, there was the one where you had to blimp it which was a bother, one with a lot of wriggles aand fire thingys and like that was it. The rest weren't really all that difficult. but I agree, hard does not equate to better.

It lacks theoriginality and the genius of the first one. It really just feels like the same game to me. SMG was revolutionary but SMG2 is just more of the same. Dont get me wrong, its still a great game. But honestly Id give SMG1 a 10, and SMG2 a 9.

While I agree as well that harder =/= better, I found myself blasting though the game rather quickly and collecting stars while fun didnt feel as rewarding. And as for my skills improving, I still go back to mario 3 and world and struggle but I think its just the case of how 3d and 2d platformers differ as well and me as well. I just dont find easy games as enjoyable as more difficult games

If you want it all youreach for Red Dead Redemption. :)

Was Galaxy 2 a great game? Yes, absolutely. But it was held back by a few things: Some bad camera angles and graphics that weren't as polished as its predecessor being the two biggies.

*shiver* i'm the oposite as you, I'd give 2 a 10 and 1 a 9 on my own scale. @ fixes most if not all of my prolems with one and is flat out more ballsy in its design approach.

Meh, there were some moments where the camera was an annoyance I'll give you that, but the graphics weren't an eye sore and that's all that mattered to me. It still looked nice.

And about RDR. I would get it, but I have enough sandbox/wide expansed games on my plate as it is. :(

my wife's little brother brought it over this past weekend, after playing the first few levels i was not overly impressed. it is almost exactly like the first game which to a lot of people is probably a good thing. it just sucks that i can't enjoy it as much as i want to because of the wii's garbage controllers. i really wish the option to use the gamecube controller was available.

Play it on an HDTV. That was one of the things that impressed me with the original Galaxy: Despite being 480PI didn't really notice or care. Galaxy 2 was different and had some ugly textures.

I find that odd, there is nothing about world that anyone who has beat it should struggle with. I would agree that the 2D games are probably harder on first go than the 3D ones (only because of age really) but I wouldn't push to say that SMW and SMB3 are better than SMG2 because of difficulty, they aren't hard games.

I lack an HD TV granted but in my experience, 2 is a lot sharper and better textured than 1. 1 was also mega jaggy which I haven't quote seen with 2. 1 had a better framerate though.

In terms of pure level design it probably has an edge, overall though you are crazy, NSMBW was underwhelming in several areas.

ActicEdge

Lol, none of them.

There were some instances were either things were either moving too fast for the camera to really keep up, or the angle made distances harder to judge. The one level where you constantly rolled everywhere and then had to jump on that platform at the end that was surrounded by rubber bands was one of those moments. The camera stretched out way too far to judge the jump.

Well it is a sequel to a platformer, it plays the same same but the level design was actually really diffferent. SMG2 in general is a lot bigger in area than the first which is a lot more restricted. The beginning has a very big similarity to the first though, the opening cinematic, then the sky station galaxy, after that though they really aren't all that similar design wise.

Meh, there were some moments where the camera was an annoyance I'll give you that, but the graphics weren't an eye sore and that's all that mattered to me. It still looked nice.

And about RDR. I would get it, but I have enough sandbox/wide expansed games on my plate as it is. :(

SpiritOfFire117

And I'm not trying to make Galaxy 2 out to be some ugly piece of garbage, either. Things just didn't look as fine as the first.

...and too many sandbox games to play? Lucky you, it's my favorite genre! :D

[QUOTE="bobcheeseball"]Haven't played SMG2 yet...but I can say I liked NSMBW better then SMG *runs for cover*ActicEdge

In terms of pure level design it probably has an edge, overall though you are crazy, NSMBW was underwhelming in several areas.

I can respect that SMG was a more complete game and pretty much agree with it. However I had much more fun playing NSMBW with 3 other people then playing through SMG. I suppose throwing your teamates and griefing isn't really a good thing but I sure as hell had a great time wih it :D

NSMBW might have been unpolished and generally unimpressive in comparison, but I haven't laughed so much when playing a videogame since Brawl. :P

I'm not just crazy I'm borderline insane.

Bad Camera angles? What Levels had bad camera angles?

standarddamage

Lol, none of them.

There were some instances were either things were either moving too fast for the camera to really keep up, or the angle made distances harder to judge. The one level where you constantly rolled everywhere and then had to jump on that platform at the end that was surrounded by rubber bands was one of those moments. The camera stretched out way too far to judge the jump.

That is more of a misjudge than bad though, SMG1 had a lot of that too, it was still more than managable. I was talking like "bad" camera, not just annoying.
