So, System Wars. How would you feel about an SMG3? I was reading a GamesRadar article about what they would like to see in it, so that's why I ask.

In my honest opinion, I think Nintendo shouldn't really bother after SMG2, which is a great game, but it wasn't really needed after the first one, which I still think better than the sequel by a long shot. But I'd still play it for curosity's sake as I still like Mario games.

I'd rather Nintendo make a NEW Mario platformer though and not a trilogy to the Galaxy series.

I'd like it provided they had a whole bunch of new, great, idea's and it felt like it had a purpose.

Sure why not? It would be like a Super Mario Galaxy expansion pack with new levels and (hopefully) new power-ups. kinda like Super Mario Galaxy 2

Yes. Just bring back the larger over-world and level progression Galaxy 1 had. Didn't care to much for the over-world and level progression of Galaxy 2.

No. I also enjoyed SMG more than SMG2 and would prefer something new for Mario.

I won't buy a Wii U for it, but if I had a Wii U I'd probably get it.

I would get it - but it wouldn't be like a day 1 purchase - I'd like something different. I think thats why over time I have grown to really like Super Mario Sunshine (even though it is certainly not Galaxy stuff) because they did something different. I don't want 3 Galaxies - even though i'd buy 3 anyway >.

Sure, and a Wii U launch title at that. :P

But they really should end it there and go a new way with Mario in the future.

Like a lot of us said. I would rather a brand new theme.

Not saying SMG3 wouldn't be awesome though.

Yeah I'd take it as long as they improve upon the last game, even just a little. What Mario fan could say no to another instant cIassic?

I didn't like Galaxy so I didn't buy Galaxy 2. I hope they stop the Galaxy stuff. Super Mario 64 is my favourite game of all time and Super Mario Sunshine was also awesome, so I really want to love the franchise again :(

I'll probably get jumped for this, but I never thought SM64 was that great, and it certainly hasn't aged gracefully. I think the Galaxy games are far superior. That said, I'd prefer they do something different with the series.

Super Mario Bros 1

Super Mario Bros 2

Super Mario Bros 3

-

Super Mario Land

Super Mario Land 2

Super Mario Land 3

-

Super Mario World

Super Mario World 2

-

Super Mario 64

Super Mario Sunshine

-

Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Super Mario Galaxy 3?

-

It certainly seems plausible, considering that Nintendo just made the third iteration of the Super Mario Land franchise.

But I suspect that, like Super Mario World, Nintendo will move onto something new.

-

But obviously, if it comes out I would love to play it.

Mario games are incredible.

I doubt there will be a third Mario Galaxy. Next gen there will be a new Mario series. NES: Bros. SNES: World N64: 64 GCN: Sunshine Wii: Galaxy Wii U: ???

The minigames were awesome. And SMG1 was outright open world compared to SMG2 (which unfortunately it's what everyone seems to like).

The minigames were anything but awesome, I'm still traumatized by manta rays. And that's sad to hear about SMG2, given SMG1 was already very linear to begin with :(

Or better yet make another Yoshi's Island game.

Why is linearity such a bad thing in Mario games?

People seem to forget that Mario was originally a linear franchise.

Nintendo said that it is difficult to imagine a Super Mario Galaxy 3.

Maybe Super Mario Dimensions where Mario game travel through parallel universes.

But that is what I loved about Super Mario Galaxy 2. I loved that it went back to the 2D style. I was never a fan of the 3D Mario games. I only played Sunshine and the 2 Galaxy games but I loved that Galaxy 2 was more linear then Sunshine and Galaxy 1.

If it can be done, yes. Otherwise, seeing that the only reason why Super Mario Galaxy 2 was created in the first place, I don't think there is much creative incentive in making a third game.

That is why the director or producer of the resent Super Mario games said he thinks it is unlikely that they will make Super Mario Galaxy 3.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 collectively make up my favorite game of all time, and I'd rather them keep it as it is. Maybe I'd take a Mario Galaxy 3D, but I think they should just take Mario into a new direction from here.

I think the concept of having an insane variety of levels, the play on gravity and small(er) worlds is always welcome. Although, if Ninty were to do it, I'd expect some flat large worlds as well which is really the only knock on Galaxy1 and 2.

But I think they should focus on a new Mario 3D title with some levels as throwbacks to the gravity, Mario Galaxy type levels. But the direction imo really needs to be a combination of Galaxy and Mario64, with an emphasis on the larger levels that Mario 64 provides.
