Super Mario Galaxy - Possible GOTY???

I really don't see anything even measuring up to the uniqueness and innovation that Super Mario Galaxy delivers, I have had this game since it's release this morning, and i've already been blown away, and i haven't even finished the first galaxy.

Crysis was pretty fun, but it just seems like an improvement of other FPS games. Graphics wise, yes, it is better...but if you want graphics, there's always CG shows to watch.

I play a game to have fun, and SMG has blown me away. This will definitely go down as one of the best games in history.

Nothing about SMG is standard.

It may have a chance against Bioshock...but bioshock ended too soon.

The uniqueness of the game in itself will give it GOTY.....

It's anything but "standard" Obviously you need to do some research. Numerious reviews have said this just may be the rebirth of the platformer

It's amazing how angsty people get when they feel their "go to" game has been slighted a bit. What I ment by standard is that it is a platformer, nothing more or nothing less; am I saying it's a bad game? No, you have to be stupid to say that. Will it be game of the year? Yeah I think so.

What I ment was that some people enjoy playing FPS with great graphics, ie. COD4, Bioshock, and Crysis, over games like Mario. Not too hard to understand is it?

Because the graphics are Mario 64 and 1/2.
Because the gameplay is Mario 64 mixed with elements of Prey ala walking on smallish planetoids.
Because its a platformer.

Just because this is the greatest thing on the Wii since Metroid Prime 3 doesn't mean it stacks up to the likes of Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, or Assassin's Creed.

Dude it's a friggen PLATFORMER! How many times do I have to say it. Even if it re-invents platformers, it's still a platformer. It has the idea of a platformer. Just like Half Life 2 is a standard FPS, even though it did re-invent FPS, and take them to a whole new level. Super Mario Galaxy has taken platforming to a whole new level, but it still doesn't change the fact that it has the same overall premise as platformers, it just goes about doing it in a whole new different way.
