Wow. I haven't seen this much denial and delusion in my life.
You skipped the part where Mario was on the surface of that Sun? That big lava world? That was not planethopping. Besides, there were bigger worlds in it.
And that diving secuence, that wasn't planethopping, now was it?

Exactly...Plus the major new thing about this game is the planet hopping..Nintendo is trying to show this feature as much as possible..Its a galaxy..Not just a planet...
Plus, There are huge planets with atmospheres and skies of their own..
I got a lot more excited watching LBP than super mario galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy looks uninspired and uninteresting when compared to LittleBigPlanet.rykaziel
LOL SMG had WAY more action and way more going on than LBP...

Yes, the Mario platformers have been declining. This next one will be even worse than the last.
Oh, wait.

Seriously LBP was a snooze fest. SMG looks WAAAAAY more interesting.Â

In all honesty, I got bored of watching the LBP trailer about a quarter of the way through.
I got a lot more excited watching LBP than super mario galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy looks uninspired and uninteresting when compared to LittleBigPlanet.rykazielI'm suprised from this comment. A 2D plaformer is more inspiring than an extention of a dimension on another level? It's new. But that's as far as the inspiration goes for me.
I got a lot more excited watching LBP than super mario galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy looks uninspired and uninteresting when compared to LittleBigPlanet.rykazielI actually couldn't disagree more. I look at the videos of SMG and its levels have a far more of a touch of genius and variety then anything I have seen from LBP wich was very litle. Not to mention that both those games are nothing alike. To the TC TP floped you never really know its definitely possible.
The game looks fun, granted.
But, it doesn't look to be the end-all be-all, either. The graphics are "meh"-inspiring and the soundtrack is Casio-line keyboard fare.
Really kinda makes me nauseous to think about what this game could have been on better hardware.

Music is always by Koji, and he explain why he sticks to midi and synth so it wouldnt matter if it was on better hardware. As for the graphics... they don't look "meh" sure they arent anywhere as good as Gears but for the Wii they really good. And what does "meh-inspiring" mean? That it inspires people to say "meh"? The graphics are way more than acceptable. The game looks fun, granted.

Pretty much the same, only with lots more bloom and less bright colours. The game looks fun, granted.

What if's are pointless why wish for something that was never going to happen? If it was on better hardware it wouldn't be this game. So why can't you be happy with this.. it looks like a great game...The game looks fun, granted.

From the trailers I have watched, it seems like 90% of the game is Flying from 1 planet to another, And in each planet the only thing you could do is collect coins and or kill some enemies. This flying scenes remind me of Wind Waker when you sail your boat from one island to another.Seems its gonna be repetetive and tedious. And yes SMG does look good but Dewy's adventure looks better. It seems alot more interesting then the aiming and shoting of Halo.

I actually don't relate at all to that. The first time you probably saw SMG you thought to yourself: Man wouldn't this be awsome with more powerfull hardware. I saw the last video and such would actually be the last thing in my mind. It looked more fun to me then 95% of the next gen games annouced. The game looks fun, granted.

Comparing the state of the Wii to that of wishing games could be on the PS4 is silly, don't you think?
Here, I am comparing the hardware of today with the hardware of today--the Wii vs the 360 / PS3 / PC. How much better would the game look, sound, operate on better hardware? One word--better.
Sue me for wishing that Nintendo had at least upheld the status quo.

It seems like it's uninspired because it's essentially Mario64 + gravity. I still saw the butt-stomps, still saw getting shot out of a cannon, jumping on top of people, etc. I can see the development team meeting now, "How can we build on Mario 64?" Well there is your problem right there. Instead of reinventing and innovating like Super Mario World to Mario 64, they simply added a little Zaz.I get confused with what you said. SMG isn't inspiring because it's Mario (A platformer) with an added dimention to play around with to a game which by no means looks absolutely stunning but relys on the same mechanic from when Mario was introduced with objects that have physics to get around levels? I think LBP is the game which adds less to such a genre than to SMG.
LBP, I haven't seen those types of gameplay elements in a platformer before. Spawning your own objects, using physics systems to get around obstacles, cooperatively using momentum and the very physical properties of you and your friends to get above things, I mean come on. Plus, it's extremely fresh. It's tough for me to get excited about Super Mario game # 1458.rykaziel

Last gen there was one Mario platformer. Ratchet and Clank had four (not counting the PSP game.) Jak and Daxter had three.
Don't pretend Mario has millions of platformers. There may be millions of spin-offs, but not platformers.

the majority of the game is hopping from plant to planet. We dont know if that Big lava world isnt consisted of many lava planets. We all know Every platformer has some kinda variety to it. SMG seems like it has the cliches in video game, the over used ice, water, fire stages...Wow. I haven't seen this much denial and delusion in my life.

my thought exactly.....aside from the neat physics...I really see nothing interesting about LBP[QUOTE="Son_of_Some"]the majority of the game is hopping from plant to planet. I agree.
IMO LBP is a whole generation ahead in terms of expanding what videogames are capable of. SMG is simply a pretty standard platformer with some Wiimote controls added in whereas LBP is an advanced game/world creation tool that looks very intuitive to use and would allow people to build far more complex and potentially entertaining game worlds that any thing seen so far in SMG.
It's like comparing and old school 2D shooting/platform game like Contra (or something like that) to a new 3D shooting game like Halo. One is so far ahead in terms of scope that regardless of how good the other was in it's day it simply can't touch the level of immersion and potential fun that comes from the complete freedom and advanced design that is offered game like Halo.
SMG looks old and rather uninspiring compared to the potential greatness of LBP...
I never said Mario has millions of platformers, but Mario, I think, is an incredibly overused franchise. Pllllllleeeease come up with somebody new. It's becoming very tiring. I know he is charming, and he is history, but Nintendo needs to create some new characters here.Last gen there was one Mario platformer. Ratchet and Clank had four (not counting the PSP game.) Jak and Daxter had three.
Don't pretend Mario has millions of platformers. There may be millions of spin-offs, but not platformers.

By creating new characters, Nintendo can take risks in gaming without damaging their heralded franchises. Metroid Prime was risk, in bringing such a beloved character to 3d, and it paid off, but trying new things with new characters is something Nintendo has to do. LBP just looks to me, like much more fun.
[QUOTE="REVOLUTIONfreak"] The media loves it by the way.rykazielAdolf Hitler was Time's Man of the Year in 1938, so I'm not exactly sure the media is something to go by. thats so FUNNY *sarcasm*

Nintendo has many many franchises and they create new ones...Pikmin was new and risky...Scored 8.9 and 9.2 here, pretty impressive..Animal crossing too is a new franchise..Nintendo has a lot of franchises to play around with thats why you see only 1 Mario platformer in like 4yrs...Mario is the star of the show..He made Nintendo- Nintendo..Telling them to throw away Mario is like telling Sega to leave sonic or something like that..Every Mario game is different too...
LBP looks very good graphically and has some nice features, but Mario Galaxy just looks way more fun than LBP...It has a variety of puzzles you can perform, it employs some nice gravity physics, theres alot more going on on the screen, you just have none stop action..Plus the graphics and art direction are just brilliant...Not only are they brilliant but they are done in a new dimension...I can honestly say i havent seen any game that looks like Mario Galaxy...Motion control is used quite impressively too for alot of puzzles and gameplay elements...Using the Wiimote to catapult from a sling shot, shaking it to do the spin attack and activate shooting stars, using it to gather star particles..There are just so many things that are new with this Mario, its amazing...
