There were people that expected to see Smash Bros. at E3 2012. They're what we call 'silly.' And once again, Masahiro Sakurai has clarified that we should not expect Smash Bros. any time soon. It's in development, but we will be waiting for years before it's available. Here's the exact quote:

We've just taken what you could call the first step of the process. This is the first time I've ever had my next project announced before it's even entered development, and because of that, I fear that players will be forced to wait even longer than they expect to. Please be patient.

This waiting game will last a while.

Who cares it's going to look and play like all the others....prob even more casualized than the Wii version.

What's with the long development cycle any way? Is it that hard to cut and paste the same game onto a new system? They act like they actually have to work hard on this or something.

You think so? That's a good thing because hardcore Smash Bros. is f*cking stupid.

I don't know why they went ahead and announced it so early >:( Seriously, we ALL knew there was going to be a foruth Super Smash Bros. eventually... we were just waiting for an official announcement so we knew it was coming soon or we were gonna get information on it soon... Pointless announcing it before development if you ask me :/

Jeez, I've been waiting forever, just like everyone else. Why couldn't he work on it earlier? Was it the production of Kid Icarus: Uprising because I would easily take Super Smash Bros. 4 over Kid Icarus despite it being a good game. Ahhh Idk.

I find it crazy that they announced the game so early, now there is just going to be people dissapointed at each conference when they do not see it because it has already been announced. They should have waited until at least having a small amount of footage

Remove the Mario Kart Wii level item luck winning. Bring back all the little subtle movements that made Melee stand out. Give proper ranked online that isnt "You increase in points for eternity" more like a Dota/Hon/LoL or WoW Arena style Personal Skill Rating system. make its online robust. Keep all current characters and add at least 10-15 more. Otherwise, what the hell is the point in this sequal.

I'm sure he wanted to work on a different game at some point rather than moving from one smash bros to another. Kid Icarus is a great game and I'm glad to see what else he can do after this smash bros is out

They should have been working on this instead of that pointless Kid Icarus game. I can't believe they are about to launch a new console without so much as a screenshot of a new Smash Bros, Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong. There's no reason to buy one.

It WAS the production of Kid Icarus. I'm glad the production of Kid Icarus was not delayed in any case, because Kid Icarus is a brand new game. (Yes I know the franchise existed way back on NES or SNES, I don't know but it was a completely different game) The biggest thing I want from Super Smash Bros 4 is better online. Brawl's online is just unbearable. I won't be getting hyped for it though as we wont be seeing it for a long time. I'd much rather get hyped for Pikmin 3 or Halo 4 or Watch Dogs which are just around the corner :D

COD has had many more changes between interations and they pump one of those out every year.

I agree, I love that they have brought back such an old series that was buried ever since the Gameboy and NES era, but I have been a long time fan of the Smash bros. Series, so I would have to prefer that. But was Kid Icarus that big of project? I mean it's been like 4 years since the release of Brawl(2008? not sure) and it'd be a little hard to beleive that Kid Icarus took 4 years to produce. I'm okay with any game he makes since they're all pretty good but this game has been teased for awhile now:cry:

No. And there are two devs working on each iteration. IW and Trey, both. Each one releases a game each year. They don't only work on it for a year.

Brawl worse than 64? Heck no, 64 was the worst. It didn't age all that well (though still more playable than games like Soul Edge/Blade).

That sucks, I was hoping for a new one closer to launch. As good as the Wii one was though I am sure it will be worth the wait. Just sucks having to wait.

[QUOTE="JohnnyCageMK"][QUOTE="nintendoboy16"][QUOTE="JohnnyCageMK"] Not every franchise needs to be revived. People request Starfox and F-Zero to be revived too but its just cult fans.

Even then, Kid Icarus' return was anything but pointless. And who cares if it has a cult fanbase, Nintendo has IP's that have a cult following and they are still alive. Fire Emblem anyone?

Its fine if they wanna make Kid Icarus games but you don't waste your Smash Bros developers on it. Smash Bros is one of their biggest system sellers and should be ready close to launch.

Kid Icarus became one of the 3DS's premier system sellers. Don't you want Nintendo to diversify it's lineup?
