these are probally the biggest titles coming out this gen. I love MGS, but i dont think it can hold up to these. Sony should release Resistance 2 pretty soon, before its to late. do you think Metal Gear Solid 4 can keep sony neck and neck with 360 and wii when these launch?

I don't see how MGS4 is a "system seller." People who want MGS4 should already have purchased a PS3 since they know it is going to be on that system eventually.
I doubt many people buy a system for one game, even if it is a very good game.

Oh please :roll: If gears 1 AND halo 3 didn't kill the ps3, what makes you think a sequel to one of them will? Gears 2 won't even be among the top 5 sellers this year with mario kart, SSBB, wiifit, GTA IV and GT5 coming out. 360 had already established itself when GoW and Halo 3 came out. Yes those games did help sell some consoles, a little, but MGS4 is the staple game people are waiting to buy a PS3 for. I work at Gamestop and I hear it almost every day. I ask frequent customers when they are going to buy a PS3 and they reply with "When its cheaper or when MGS4 comes out."
Which isn't to say MGS4 is going to be as big of a staple as like.. Halo 1 was to Xbox.. but to date for PS3, it's likely going to draw the largest crowd.

GEars 1 wasn't even a Sony killer when Sony had nothing and was $100 more money. Why would Gears 2 take out Sony when Sony is now a competitive price and is finally building a solid game lineup.

this thread doesn't make any sense. You lems do know that MGS4 isn't the only game coming to the ps3 this year right? SSBB will be a great game and so will gears 2, but in no way possible can gears 2 and SSBB kill off resistance 2, GT5, and MGS4 (and if Killzone 2 live up to the hype, then that game will sell millions no doubt). If anything, gears 2 just helped balanced out the line-up for 08, nothing more
p.s. yall lems fail to realize that the only comp Gears had to go up against in 06 on the ps3 side was resistance, but gears 2 WILL NOT have it so easy. Will it sell? most definitely. Will it dominate this year like gears did in it's launch year? MEGA HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to many mega hit sequels coming to the ps3 this year
As much as I love Smash Bros. and Gears (to a much, much lesser extent, but I still like it), there is absolutely no way two games kill an entire lineup of games.
