The purpose of the Wii is to play games. Hence the games, the backwards compatibility, and the Virtual Console.
The console is just given the option to play games in a new way, but its not a requirement handed laid down by the Nintendo god that is a giant green hamster from Neptune.
Besides, Brawl plays quite a bit differently than Melee, plus it was fun enough that I could care less if I was playing it through a rock tied to a raging lion's ear while I ride the Nintendo god that is a giant green hamster from Neptune.

Amen. Also Uptown that's why they give us options its a good thing you know. You can use wiimote and GC controller, don't try to play it off like this is a bad thing.
You are right Smash Bros. Brawl is best played away from the wiimote. You are correct that the wiis biggest system seller probably wont be effective with the wiimote.
But that doesnt mean SUper Mario Galaxy doesnt use it effectively. It doesnt mean Zack and Wikki and Metroid Prime 3 dont use it right. It doesnt mean Trauma Center, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 use it well. IT doesnt mean future wii games wont use it well.
1 game doesnt define a system. Even the original xbox was more than just Halo Combat Evolved.

Will as you may know not all games work will with motion sensing ever since the first announcement of the wii they told us to keep our GC controllers so we obviously knew some games would just not work with motion sensing and I don't see it really defeating the purpose of the wii since its not on the GC and it has online and the GC does not. (Even if the online is not the best thing ever, its still there and its free and no lag).
what i find ironic is that the best game on Wii makes no use of motion sensing really. but thats besides the point because this game is amazingTOTAL_DEFENSE_0
If you practice with the wiimote you'll get pretty good at it. My friend can almost hold his own against me (over online), and all his gamecube controllers broke.
Best played with a Gamecube controller and the Wii's hardware is barely better anyways....... what was the point of a new system again? Still a good game but come on sheep quit being such zealots and at least acknowedge the major flaws here. Nintendo is just getting away with robbery here imo.

Yeah because the GC really used online......And also has double sided disks. SSBB could not have fitted on a GC CD. In fact it could not fit on a normal Wii CD which is why some Wii have had a problem with it.
I get what you mean. Kinda makes me sad that it's the most hyped Wii game. Wasn't my most hyped game because of that. I bought the Wii mostly for the wiimote and games using it but I just needed that game because it's freakin' smash bros.
But on the other hand, it's just one game that doesn't use the wiimote. Not worth bashing the Wii for.
I agree, thats why I bought a Wii in the first place. Playing Wii Sports or playing Zelda/Mario had some good use of the Wii Mote but that is why I bought the console.

saying this is like saying that bioshock defeats the purpose of online gaming. or that SMG getting GOTY defeats the point of HD graphics. or that most games defeat the point of the camera/eyetoy. or how dmc4 defeats the point of bluray.
