If it's not Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine from RE Remake, they can f**k off. As I don't see that happening, I have zero interest in their new Fire Emblem character announcement.

I use to love playing smash but now its hard to find other friends to play that aren't super try hards. Only more final fantasy characters would make me rebuy smash brothers.

I think Viewtiful Joe would be a great addition to the series and if he did get announced, he would be one of those surprising choices that not a lot of people saw coming, but one that people would be pretty excited about nonetheless.

I think the only thing that's holding him back is he hasn't really been relevant in years and there hasn't been much buzz around him in the Smash conversation either. But hey, you never know.

I mean, anything will be better than a Fortnite character. If it ends up being a Fortnite character, everyone outside the teenager demographic will be pissed. Lol

All other systems are getting new game annoucements and trailers. Nintendo gets 1 new character dlc for an old game released years ago.

This game has all the epic gaming characters this is how you do it.

Very unexpected but damn cool if you ask me. I wasn't that sure about when to buy the second DLC package, well ... it's seems now is the time.

Exactly dude Sephiroth is auto buy. Nintendo is genius the other characters suck but this ones worth every penny.

Obvious choice since Nintendo is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about FF7 and it is not as if square-enix have other franchises apart of Final Fantasy 7 on top of that it is amazing the inclusion of a swordsman since Smash have very few of them. I think Steve as a character is very interesting gameplay wise ... but i wasn't on a rush to try it. But this one ... yeah, day 1 most likely (hopefully a couple of weeks away at most)

Are you insane dude? Sephiroth is one of the coolest villains ever. He's won 1000's of polls on GameFaqs for best villain of all time this guy is a friggin beast he owns everyone. How is he stupid hes amazing and FF7 is on switch the classic game.

This is great it promotes that old classic game on switch and new remake on ps4 this is a great move for both nintendo and square and fans of the best selling final fantasy game of all time. It's win win win. Everyone wins he's friggin got huge sword silver hair bad ass soldier uniform dude dude just stop.

Nope that track is currently not in the game, but look forward to more Final Fantasy music for sure. I couldn't quite make out his stage. I'm just gonna wait for the Sakurai Presents on that one since the DLC stages usually have something unique going for them.

This is definitely going to be the last game in the series at this rate. But, knowing Nintendo and its fans, they will rebuy the same game under the guise of BC.

This might as well be the final Smash title in the series directed by Sakurai.

They have alluded that Smash as a series will continue after Ultimate, but we may never get a title on the magnitude of Ultimate ever again.

My guess: Smash Ultimate is intended to be the definitive entry of the current formula. My guess: the next Smash title will be a series overhaul.

Apparently Nintendo was on board with a Melee remake if Sakurai didn't made Smash 4 ... so i'm guessing the next Smash is going to be some kind of Melee remake or reboot ... so yeah, this is the last main, big Smash game.

Just a followup but here is Sephiroth's full DLC details:

If you have Fighter Pass 2 you can fight Sephiroth right now because he's arriving to Smash as a Boss before he arrives as a playable Fighter. Sephiroth officially counted out on December 22nd.

That's pretty cool to have him as a Boss before his official release.

If you beat the Sephiroth mode right now, you actually unlock Sephiroth.

Smash might be fun again if the online wasn't so awful. Until Nintendo joins us in the present it's hard to care about new characters being added when the game isn't fun.

This is probably the best played launch of a character I've ever seen for the game. Sakurai just trolled in such an awesome way. Beat Sephiroth in his boss mode now and unlock him, otherwise wait till December 22nd.

there are 3 difficulties (easy, normal, hard) and he unlocks regardless which on you beat him on.

Omfg that new stage is rediculously awesome. Sakurai is a God, and we do not deserve him.

@stacweed11: I just came to term of that detail. Still a cool way to soft-release him. I still don't think a lot of people realize he can be unlocked now. Lol

Just finished watching the Sakurai Sephiroth gameplay breakdown video and my god that was freakin’ amazing. The stage looks absolutely incredible and there’s a bunch of great song tracks in there.
