Gears 2 would really need to step up in the gameplay department if it wants to be worthy of mention. Better AI, less boring gameplay segments like the Junker drive or the pitfall tiptoe-ing. They could at least TRY this time around to have some decent dialogue and a more fleshed-out story. Cliffy B said he didn't want to bore gamers with cutscenes? Well, the lack of effort on part of the story is sad and patronizing to gamers. We don't have ADD, and we can handle some exposition.
Oh yes, the online was fun, but it needs to fix the host advantage and glitching.

I have ADD :)
Anyway, i enjoyed the first game and look foward to the second. People were obviously devided when the first game came out but i think most probably didn't enjoy it because they didn't have a 360 and were jealous as it got good reviews universally. I liked the fact you didn't have to think much about the games story and could concentrate on killing things. Don't get me wrong, i love a deep, interesting storyline but i also like to be able to chill and enjoy not having to think and worry about missing an intergral part of the storyline.
On the whole it was a good game with some good pacing and a great atmosphere. The graphics were awesome and still are over a year on and the multiplayer was good fun as well. There were some problems with the multiplayer but there are problems with pretty much every online console game atm. Consoles are still reletively young in the online arena and they still seem to be having some trouble coping with the online elements of some games which run fine on the pc.
Anyway, heres to hoping Gears 2 is as good as its predecessor
