Because it will suposidly be announced later today at Microsofts keynote! (Microsofts keynote is today, isn't it?) Also remember Epic and MS have the 2 biggest floor spaces at this years GDC;

So what are guys expecting? What do you want to see in Gears of War 2?

That's what I didn't like about the game when I played it. It was the same stuff over and over again and the graphics that were hyped as the second coming were so bland it reminded me of a big rusty junkyard.

There wasn't really anything breathtaking about the game, in my opinion. Any glory I found in the graphics were hurt by texture-loading and lag online.

Im pretty sure that at this point PS3 can easily deal with GeoW2. and anyway, i really dont expect Gears 2 to be that much different from one. maybe 4 player coop, a couple new guns and slightly more destructible enviorments but thats it.

Gears 2 would really need to step up in the gameplay department if it wants to be worthy of mention. Better AI, less boring gameplay segments like the Junker drive or the pitfall tiptoe-ing. They could at least TRY this time around to have some decent dialogue and a more fleshed-out story. Cliffy B said he didn't want to bore gamers with cutscenes? Well, the lack of effort on part of the story is sad and patronizing to gamers. We don't have ADD, and we can handle some exposition.

Oh yes, the online was fun, but it needs to fix the host advantage and glitching.

Gears 2 just needs to turn it down on the growth hormone injected archetype characters their tryed to portray in the first game. The gameplay was solid the visuals were amazing but the storyline was convoluted and made no sense. It's still agreat game but so much has changed over the past two years that their really going to need to step it up.

Looking back at it now it's a pretty simple game, but entertaining none the less.

But looking at games that have comeout since

Rainbow Six Vegas
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4
Half-Life 2 Episode 2
Heck, even Army of Two has great ideas.

Gears 2 will have a lot to live up to.

Usden, I have followed a few of your posts mate and it seems to me you comb through most of the details on games and zero in on anything that bashes the 360. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that but it does make you sound like a fanboy!

fanboyism? if u mean hype then surely it deserves it, because regardless of what people on system wars think ( most people on here seem to hate it ) its the sequel to the highest scoring game this gen. the hype should go through the roof

They really need to fix the online. They should try and make Gears 2 campaign be MUCH bigger. I want huge battles where locusts are coming from every direction and are popping up everywhere.

Mordred19

I have ADD :)

Anyway, i enjoyed the first game and look foward to the second. People were obviously devided when the first game came out but i think most probably didn't enjoy it because they didn't have a 360 and were jealous as it got good reviews universally. I liked the fact you didn't have to think much about the games story and could concentrate on killing things. Don't get me wrong, i love a deep, interesting storyline but i also like to be able to chill and enjoy not having to think and worry about missing an intergral part of the storyline.

On the whole it was a good game with some good pacing and a great atmosphere. The graphics were awesome and still are over a year on and the multiplayer was good fun as well. There were some problems with the multiplayer but there are problems with pretty much every online console game atm. Consoles are still reletively young in the online arena and they still seem to be having some trouble coping with the online elements of some games which run fine on the pc.

Anyway, heres to hoping Gears 2 is as good as its predecessor

Cool! I remember at an E3 a few years ago (watching on GS, wast actually there where they had an interview panel and they were talking about what games need to be better and sell well. They had all sort of jounralists, developers and other figure heads. Mark Rein was on the panel and after everyone had used all the buzz words surrounding innovation, thinking-outside-the-box and all that stuff, Mark Rein just said graphics and said, thats what you need to make better and better games. He went into a bit more detail but what he said really went against what everyone else had been saying. It was kinda funny.

Can you tell me what it did special? besides having great graphics. THe game felt generic. THe single player was not interesting. The script sucked. I mean it was just *insert swear here* and the MP was really basic.

all it needs is some more weapons and maps, some things are better left unchanged
