GAME CONSOLE SALES REPORT
Deadman:
PS Vita is doing badly, with under 9,000 units sold during the last week in Japan, with even the PSP beating it. This is a problem for Sony. They need to release games FAST, otherwise we might be seeing the glorious portable Dreamcast.
Honestly, I am disappointed seeing these abysmal numbers for the Vita. I wish it would doing better, but it's not. It's selling poorly, there are rumors that developers are not going to support it, and the 3DS is just beating and kicking it while it's down. I wish there was a quick solution to all this, but Sony must do something, and fast.
If this persists the end of the Vita might be near. I don't hope for this to happen, because I like Sony; I like their products and the Vita has a lot of potential to be better. 200 thousand units were sold last month in the US, so is this good for Sony? Can we be happy about this?
I say NO! We need more sales, a price drop, better games and support from both first and third parties. I'm actually a little surprised it sold 200,000 units. Let's hope we can see more sales next month. More games would be nice too.
Can we expect a price drop announcement from Sony at E3? What games will we see at E3? Can Sony get out of the grave they're in? For Sony's sake, I hope so.
Also we can all agree it was a pretty disappointing month of March, understandable if you ask me. Not too many sales and actually sales dropping by 25% percent, that's pretty huge, of course I expect things to pick up in the upcoming month of May with the release of of Max Payne 3 which will sell a lot considering the hype surrounding it.
Now what Sony said, I don't know if I can believe it. Sure, the Vita is a powerful, capable of doing multiple tasks and many other things kind of system. I like it and will be getting one some time next month. But, I'm still a little worried about it. I'll remain calm in the next coming months and see where Sony's going with all this.
In another subject, Xbox 360 is the reigning champ in console sales beating the Wii and the PS3. Way to go Kinect! Kinect changing the way games are played and it's getting better as time passes. Well, good thing Microsoft is doing something right to appeal to the larger market. Can't hate on them. They hold 42% of the market share for console sales, FORTY-TWO PERCENT! I think that's more than enough for them to reign supreme. What will we see from MS at E3? More amazing Kinect titles on the way? More sales? Better multiplats?
Sorry Sony and Nintendo but Microsoft is winning and must be said. They're dominating the Western world and it's doing them good. They're doing what Sony did last gen(Is Sony getting a taste of their own medicine? YES!). Sony should've done what they did last gen, also they should kill the Move, it's doing nothing, in fact it seems as it doesn't exist AT ALL! Sorry but it's the truth.
Nintendo on the other hand, they're doing fine. Games are selling, 3DS dominating the handheld market and games coming in. I'd say Nintendo is perfect.
So in conclusion: Nintendo's doing what Nintendo does to be great. Microsoft is doing the right thing by appealing to the right markets and delivering games that everyone will enjoy. Sony is screwed for now, cutting 10,000 jobs from now until March 2013, billions is losses, Sony get your act together and be the Sony that we all knew last gen, the one that dominated and embarrassed everyone last gen (especially Microsoft).
