Looks like $49.99 is the retail price. I checked with Best Buy too. Your thoughts, SW? Can publishers really justify charging that much for a game that's been out for so long and you can get for $10 on other platforms? I think the only argument you can make is that the Switch version portable lol. Still, $49.99 is too much. Agreed?

Nothing unusual here, third parties have been taking the piss since the Switch launch and goobers haven't batted an eye-lid.

Isn't the price set by EA?

They're also charging for online with an online infrastructure that is inferior to xbl in 2004. This company is real special, but i've heard that the Switch is sold out everywhere, so i'm guessing people enjoy being cash cows.

Rofl it goes for sale for $5 on PC and PS/XB all the time.

Can't really blame this on Nintendo though.

Can't really be surprised should have been £29.99 but devs know they can sell games for any price on the switch. Great game though.

Does Nintendo set the price for these things?

Weird how you guys always blame Nintendo for third-party pricing. You never do that with other platforms, but somehow you think Nintendo decides on the price for every single Switch game?

I think I bought if for 5 bucks in a humble bundle some 8 years back.

Also that Switch footage they showed off in the Nintendo Direct looked really bad. I mean really, really bad.

Worst entry of the franchise. They should remake 3: Takedown before this boring game. That I’d happily rebuy for my X1X.

Pfffft, only $50, Nintendo would charge $60 and nobody would complain.

You're right, I was wrong to blame Nintendo solely on this, so I edited the OP. But it's pretty common for Nintendo ports to be expensive. This is a pretty blatant example. It's not just Nintendo first party.

That's my biggest gripe with the switch. The games are over priced and never go on sale!

BOTW is still $60. It's crap.

That's because Nintendo games have legs and still sell over the years unlike other games that drop in sales in just a couple months.

It really is because its portable, people who want that option to play resident evil, bioshock, assassins creed, final fantasy X, dragon quest, Burnout, on a portable device, not streaming...

I remember telling someone on a past thread that id pay $100 for a THPS 1-4 collection on the switch

and i mean it. i would.

games like bioshock and doom 3, whats the major benefit of getting them on my ps4? especially if you have them on PC.

if i get them on switch i can play them in handheld. Then that's going to be my first choice for double dipping on anything from the past.

There is value in being portable, love it or hate it people will pay what they are willing to pay.

That being said paradise isnt that great of game, for 50 bucks id rather have a takedown 3 and revenge bundle.

It's asking too much and I'm still gonna buy it. I've been waiting to by a racing game on switch for a while now... I almost buy Grid once a week...

BTW, grid is 15 dollars cheaper than burnout and despite being different style racers, if you're not picky on the genre (like me) it's just fun to have a racer kicking around.

Has anyone played grid on switch?

I guess. long as you're satisfied suppose that's all that matters.

Me personally? The idea that someone was taking advantage would pretty much be enough to get the rage meter going.

It's one of the biggest off-putting things about the Switch, been spoil on Steam, basically.

Nintendo fans get what they deserve for teaching the corporation that they can charge whatever the feck they want over the years.

3rd party on Nintendo is some of the most depressing crap ive seen in gaming. And they have the nerve to mark up everything, knowing that their consumer base are morons.

What do you mean by "have legs" and there are other games that continue to sell that are cheaper these days.

I agree that Paradise is the worst in the franchise, but I don't agree they should remake 3.

3 is a classic and should be left at that, instead of trying to milk gamers, EA should just make a new entry.

@TheEroica: grid is great on switch.

The handling model is a little loose but it's still a great racer.

@i_p_daily: Here’s the thing though. 3 was playable online and was arguably better than the main game - or at least enhanced it. That’s gone now. Obviously a new game is welcomed, but it’d be hard to top 3.

@Sevenizz: EA would ruin a new Burn out game, remaster 3, just give it a shiney new coat of paint and leave the rest alone and let us be happy.

I remember Nintendo games always being more expensive in the 16-bit era and their excuse was that they make money back from software and a loss with hardware. It was in a magazine (probably CVG) i used to read back int he day. I don't know if it's still true today but it wouldn't surprise me.

Dat Switch Tax....

Publishers mark up their games all the time on Switch. Doom 2016 is still asking for $60 on the eShop when you can find it for ~$20 on other platforms. It's unfortunate, but not uncommon.

I just see that the $50 for the switch version is a joke should have been 30 at the most. Devs just think they can put out anything for top dollar on the switch.
