As most of you know, SotN is going to be out in a couple of hours for some people, if not all of us, on the XBLA. It is not doubt an amazing game, so i just have to ask, how do you think it ranks so far among the previous ps3/360/wii releases?

Yeah Wii has many games that are better after a few months and XBLA has had over a year and really has not given much. It is a great addition to XBLA but the VC has Super Mario World, Mario 64, Zelda ALTTP, Zelda OOT, Castlevania 4, and Kirby just to name a few majors ones.

In the upper eschalon, along with stuff like LTTP, OoT, and Super Mario World. But best yet? I doubt it'll beat OoT. SotN is great, but seems kinda... less spectacular after playing the latest Castlevanias on the DS.

Not the best, OOT is better IMO. but I wonder whether GS will correct an old mistake and give the SotN the AAA it deserves or they will screw it up again.

indeed, they definately screwed it up horribly the first time around. of course, they mess up all the time imo[QUOTE="Hoffgod"]In the upper eschalon, along with stuff like LTTP, OoT, and Super Mario World. I am most certainly excited about the re-release of SoTN.  I mean after all it is my favorite game of all time.  I have beatin the original PSX version many a time plus I also bought myself a Sega Saturn over ebay while back with the japanese version of SoTN under the name Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight and beatin that several times also.  So put simply I just cant get enough of this game.

Maybe if they had improved upon it, or hadn't been another improved version of the game. But it's too lazy of Konami's part to not add the extras from the Saturn version, since it would had been pretty much just a cut and paste job.

I have yet to play Portrait of Ruin, but Dawn of Sorrow, as well as the GBA ones, are all simply amazing gaming experiences. They are incredible.

I would definitely put this game on the same level as Ocarina. To begin with, it created the formula that has kept Castlevania relevant in current gaming (no thanks to the 3D Castlevanias). Second, it has a soundtrack that is second to none and combined with the general ambiance of the game, comes off as one of the most atmospheric games ever. The gameplay is tight, the exploration is a blast, and the overall package has yet to be beat by another Castlevania game (although Dawn of Sorrows came the closest). I can understand people who choose Ocarina over SoTN, as Ocarina is more involved, but when it comes down to which game better exemplifies its genre, I think it's a toss-up. Anyone who enjoys...well, games should have this one in their library.

Sudden question. Is it a good idea to have played any other Castlevanias first? Or would it matter?

The game is only linked to the first Dracula X for the PC-Engine CD. Which hasn't been released outside of Japan so far, so no, you don't have to.
