System Shock 3 Confirmed, Your Thoughts and Expectations

Better late than never, System Shock is finally coming back.

Developer OtherSide Entertainment has already created a teaser website with a countdown clock that will unveil the first details of the game in a few days.

As mentioned before, what are your thoughts and expectations?

My immediate thought was "YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" followed by "Damn, hope they dont screw it up"

My expectations are this:

-More RPG than FPS; seriously, we don't need any more shooters with sprinklings of RPG for superficial "depth". But if they want to make an RPG from a first-person perspective, that's awesome.

-Dialogue choices: not really existent in the previous games, I feel they would have been if the budget and tech was there to do so. Dialogue choices really add to a games immersion imo.

-SHODAN, of course

-Takes place in space

*-oh yeah, and I don't want it to be Bioshock-in-space

I never played the old ones, but this is great news for fans!

Please no, shooters are shooters and crippling the players shotgun because its RRPGEE is silly. I love bioshock because it had depth in gameplay, it gave you just enough to tailor your abilities and use strategies to take on encounters.

RPG's where your not in direct control of your character work well, but when the game requires the players abilities to actively fight enemies, the RPG mechanics undermine the gameplay.

I understand, but I was thinking maybe a 60-40 or even a 50-50 split of the two. I mean, SS2 was still a shooter, but it was also an RPG. Did both very well.

I definitely understand where you are coming from, though; my favorite game of all-time (Deus Ex) was like that, and while I appreciated it at the time, playing it now and waiting for my crosshair to "aim" (you basically need to stand still for a few seconds for your crosshair to even come down on the enemy) is frustrating now.

Well, I never played the originals to appreciate this, but even if I did I'd still be reluctant given the studio that's making it is new, they're relying on crowd-funding, and they're abilities are untested. Any celebration might be a bit premature.

it's gonna get the bioshock treatment. I"m setting my expectations super low so i wont disappointed when i finally play it.

It will be glorious and casual-like.

Hopefully it get good graphics so i can play it, the old ones looked to terrible to be playable.

Cautious. With no Ken Levine working on it I'm very concerned about the story, And gameplay, worried it'll be Bioshock

I hope they make it for PC first then move it console later so they can have enough funds to make system shock 4

fallout 4 isn't enough for me I need my fpsrpg fix
