I just thought I'd give you guys some moments , trends , flops , and things to look at. So many things happened this year pertaining to System Wars , forgive me if I left a lot of things out. Maybe I'll add some in.
- NXE releases and Home release
- PSN improves - in-game xmb , trophies introduced , etc
- ps3 DOOM and GLOOM articles by the press once again
- Questions about the PSP lately with a terrible q4 software release library and where it is going in the future beyond upcoming Sony and SE releases. ?
- Blu-ray lives , HD-DVD dies
- The DS and Wii still print money as usual
- No More Heroes is a semi-surprise AAA. It's nice to see the Wii get some M-rated lovin from third parties that are interesting games.
- Diablo 3 !
- Alan Wait ?????????
- Spore flops
- Sony/Slant Six rush Socom Confrontation and it flops. It needed a few more months in the oven before release.
- Sales matter , sales don't matter
10. Tekken 6 coming to the 360 ! WoW , but not too surprising after the FFXIII announcement , and Namco has been a big 360 supporter this gen.
9. Haze flops. Functional shooter at best with some ridiculous dialogue. Good luck Free Radical employees , we all wish you the best. Go Rob go !
8. DQ X announced for the Wii. This is a huge pickup for the Wii - especially for the Japanese market. The Wii really needs more sales !!!!!

7. Killzone 2 mania is still running wild in 2008. We have hate , doubt , fear , jealousy , and intentionally overhyping VS.hype , excitement , and optimism. There's a good chance Killzone 2 will be a top 5 in 2009's extravaganza - especially if it gets under an 8 or the impossible (9 or better)

6. Nintendo's E3 conference creates much laughter for SW users , and the subsequent Nintendo holiday offerings of Wii Music and Animal Crossing for the Wii are yawn inducing titles for the core gamers. Oh well , the first half of the year was really good.

5. Gears 2 vs. Resistance 2 - In the battle for supremecy , Gears 2 was heading into the 2-game collision course as the major favorite over the sequel to the "only AA" Resistance series made by Insomniac games - and which their last game suffered from an "identity crisis" and was just an A title. It was expected that Gears 2 would curbstomp R2 into the ground by many outspoken Gears fans and some casual observers ..... afterall , Sony has never even had a AAA FPS ever under their belt , right ? The chips were stacked against R2 to put it mildly. Not only did Resistance 2 manage to equal Gears 2's score , but it also got the nod over Gears 2 as a GOTY nominee and became the victor. In SW's tradition , there can be only one one winner and one loser and a huge spectacle has to made out of it , so sorry Gears 2 .... it's not your fault fanboys went overboard.

4. The PS3's hyped big three all deliver in a shocking turn of events this year. Gamespot magically transforms into Sonyspot in many peoples eyes.

3. Too Human = 5.5 Too Human is representative of a lot of the 360 disappointments this year - Lost Odyssey , Infinite Undiscovery , NG2 , Fable 2. It was all smooth sailing for awhile in the past for the lems .... but that faded in 2008.
