who do u think will win in 2008 for games? ps3 xbox or wii? sorry that I couldnt do a poll idk how to...but yeah arguements are welcomedlight_zwitch
in terms of known lineup would have to be the PS3. but thats just assuming most of the heavy hitter will be given AAA status or highly acclaimed.
wii can never win system wars.
rainbow 6 vegas 2, unreal tournament 3, grand theft auto 3, devil may cry, sports and racnig multiplats that wii doesnt get, and much more
xbox and ps3 get all those and PS3 is getting metal gear 4, gran turismo 4, final fantasy maybe god of war 3 too.
look at current multiplats. oblivion, orange box, rainbow 6 vegas, ghost rehcon 1 and 2, assassins creed, call of duty 4, plus sports and racing multiplats the wii doesnt have. those by themselves are better then the list of top games on the wii and those arent even counting those teams exclusive lists. xbox exclusives like gears of war, halo 3, mass effect, bioshock etc etc.
wii is a distant 3rd when it comes to games.
Lineup: PS3 > 360 > Wii.
Sony didn't have a great 2007 as too many games intended for this year are now due in 2008, so it's gonna be a big year. I put the 360 second but that's because I have an unnatural obsession with GTA and as the Wii is not getting it, it makes the lineup much less appealing in my eyes. Although, SSBB and a few others look great for the system next year.
I terms of sales, the 360 will win rather easily. RonnieLottinSF
Do you actually have any reasons why? I have a lot of reasons for why it won't.

How will the 360 win in terms of sales? I can see it getting the best games in 2008 (although nothing is certain nowadays, especially since both the PS3 and the Wii have solid line-ups). But why would it suddenly beat the Wii in sales?

Well the 360 has been outselling the Wii and PS3 in terms of software combined since those two have been on the market. With the massive lineup of games coming out for the 360 in 2008, which is probably bigger than its lineup for 2007, I see no reason why it will stop.
The 360 is a 3rd party pub/devs dream come true. Even the new IPs are selling over 1 million units. It is crazy as far as the attach rate goes for the 360 which from last time I checked was 7 or 8 per console. Considering the 360 is nearing the 20 million shipped to retail mark, that is amazing.

I was talking about software sales, not hardware sales. Also the hardware is only as good as the software. It will be funny when the Wii gets up in the 50 million area, yet only has a 3 or 4 game attach rate still.
I myself have bought the $250 paperweight and it gets the least play time out of all 3 of my consoles (PS3, XBOX360, Wii) and my PC. The lineup for the Wii in 2008 is looking pretty thin. All I see is SSBB and then after that a massive drop off, although I sure many Wii fanatics will say otherwise.
FABLE 2 + NINJA GAIDEN 2 = awesome titles. METAL GEAR SOLID 4 + GOD OF WAR 3 + FINAL FANTASY. As long as those games come out this year I give it to the PS3 this year. And possible Killzone 2 if it does not flop.zeldafan00013
I believe all of those games, except for MGS4, are question marks as far when they will be coming out. Fable 2, NG2, and KZ2 are scheduled for a 2008 release. GoW3 is suppose to be in 2009, while FFXIII is late 2008 or 2009.

The Wii right now has the same attach rate as the PS2 after one year. And just because you dont play your Wii as often as others, doesnt mean this applies to everyone with a Wii. When I bought my new laptop I either had to sell my 360 or my Wii to get the money together. It was basically a toin coss, considering I had loads of fun with both. But eventually I decided to keep my Wii.
And like you said, some people will say otherwise regarding the Wii 2008 lineup. Games like: SSBB, Mario Kart: Wii, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Fragile, Zack and Wikki (for us Europeans) and No More Heroes.

Oh, I thought you were talking about hardware sales...
Software wise, 360's 2008 lineup is weaker than the 2007 lineup, while Wii/PS3's are far stronger than their lineup for this year, especially the PS3s, so it definitely could shake things up in that area.

Don't forget the attach rate of COD4 and Assassins Creed, the PS3's attach rate is improving.

According to this article, the Wii is in last place as far as attach rate goes:
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/360-leads-hardware-to-software-ratio-wii-and-ps3-trail-with-sim/
Also no matter how you slice it, the Wii's 2008 lineup is weaksauce compared to the 360 and PS3 lineups.

First of, thatarticle is only aboutthe US sales. Worldwide the attach rate is much closer to 4.5-5.0. Second,I wouldnt call theWii's line up weaksauce. It has some games comingout with AA and AAA potential, just because you dont see it that way doesnt make it a bad lineup.

Check this link : http://www.vgchartz.com/aweekly.php Scroll down and see the total for software for the last week leading up to christmas. Wii beat the 360 with a few hundred thousand for software aswell.....Hardware was no contest.
So you might be abit off claiming that the 360 will beat it for software. I own only a 360 and pc at the moment, but hey right is right ,and i think you are.....well wrong;-),
The wii is a monster and will continue to rise way above all expectations. In the meanwhile i'll play too human and other games of my likeing. And who knows someday ill pick up a wii....if i can find one that is he he:-)
