System wars, I got a very important question I need your opinions on.

You know, I've played Goldeneye 007 and also Ocarina of Time to a certain extent.

My question, you know how they say that OOT pretty much reinvented the Video Game industry as a whole, including various features such as 3D, auto aiming system.

Well, you know that little game called Goldeneye 007, which came a year before OOT, and had all those same features? Why doesn't anyone mention Goldeneye for what it brought to gamers and the gaming world in general? Why does OOT always overshadow Goldeneye in accomplishments, despite the undoubted fact that OOT is a great game that can stand on its own?

I need your opinions.

and secondly, those are the most highest regarded N64 games of all time, I have no idea what you're talking about Overshadowing.

Anyway, why do you want to compare a shooter with an action adventure? Apple & orange, both taste nice, but comparing them is just silly.

First person shooters have been done before goldeneye, 3rd person action-adventure type games in 3D werent really perfected until OOT. Mario perfected platformers (and in 3d), oot perfected 3d action-adventure

Goldeneye 007 is talked about a TON dude, like right up there with Ocarina.

Its considered to be the best console shooter of the 90's, and even one of the best shooters of the 90's (right up there with Half-Life and Quake) by many, many people. It has a 97 on Metacritic, it sold millions of copies, its remembered more then the movie it was based off of, it led to a string of Bond games attempting to emulate it, and revolutionized the FPS on consoles with the incredible split screen and clever objective based missions.

Everyone loves Goldeneye, but unlike Ocarina it did age a lot faster. You go back and play Ocarina and its not so bad, Goldeneye's controls and graphics are damn old, and I'd say next to the original Deus Ex, its one of the most dated games you can go back and play.

Goldeneye has a horrible framerate and clunky controls, which is the only reason why it's hard to go back and play. Neither of these affect Deus Ex, plus Deus Ex has the advantage of graphics and gameplay mods that i have mentioned in my sig.

Deus Ex hasn't aged one second, apart from its vanilla graphics which were mediocre in 2000, let alone today.

Well, much better games like System Shock, Dark Forces, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Hexen ect... came out on PC years before Goldeneye so neither of those two games revolutionised 3D gaming at all. However, Goldeneye was really the first ever FPS besides Turoc to ever become popular on a console and Ocarana of Time was the first console game I can remember that had a dynamic day/night cycle.

Two completely different genres.

That and the only new things that Goldeneye 007 brought to the genre were headshots and its health system. Compared to Ocarina of Time which set the bar and brought multiple things to the table for third person action-adventure games.

I think Goldeneye 007 was distinct and was widely acclaimed as it was a very good example of how to do shooters right on a console.
