I've been playing modern warfare 2(360) since it came out, and before that i played mw1 on the ps3, for like 6 months, but to get to my point.

Do you guys like the aim assist on multiplayer? I mean everyone has it, but don't you think we could be more consistant without it? just a thought, or maybe they could have a playlist with this turned off, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to make (sv_autoaim 0) haha.

Thoughts?

no, without it console players would never hit anything. between the sticks and laggy P2P connection you actually need aim assit.

I don't agree, the sticks are actually quite good man, I've played on the pc for years and years and years, and trust me once you get used to the gamepad, oh boy every kill gives you incredible satisfaction. :]

Its not very noticeable for the most part and as long as it runs as more of a crutch to fix the handicap of the controller versus a tool for players to use and abuse for kills then Im all good with it...

It's not very noticeable? oh boy, it's more than very noticeable, sometimes when you want to kill someone and your crosshair happens to pass by a guy behind a wall or whatever your crosshair will totally slow down, it's annoying sometimes.

they upped it from mw1, there wasnt such an aim assist on the first one, i think they made it even stronger?

first off, you are talking to an old school halo 1 player. roughly 7 years playing that on xbox. and it has ALOT less aim assist than the new CoD's, but it still has some, a small amount.

but try a game that has little to none. PDZ. now, I loved that game for how much skill it took to aim.....but most hated it because it was too hard.

also, there are 2 different functions in this whole aim assit thing.

1) magnetism - that's your cursor actually slowing down when aiming at someone. "sticky" aim.
2) auto-aim - the bullets actually curving towards the target. say your cursor is on the outside of a character, the bullets will actually gravitate towards them.

exactly my point, if they were 'forced' to actually use skill and practice to be able to kill with not autoaim, Eventually people would get used to it and we wouldn't need it, I can see how newer games that want to attract newer gamers give this as a crutch but CoD come on, even if they took off the autoaim it would easily sell as much. I guess they wanna make it as noob appealing as it could be.

I feel like I'd do better without it. I hate it when a dude runs across your screen and it drags your aim towards him when you're aiming at another dude.

I haven't played Halo 1 in ages. You'd eat me alive. :p I was just saying it's not a necessity on consoles. For games that combine PC and consoles, maybe. KB/mouse will always be better. I'm just saying you don't need it.

Yes i hear you 100% man, that really bothers me, I feel I would be more consistant without the magnetism because your brain learns that if you move the stick that much, it will move that much in the game, but with the aim assist and the magnetism you can never be as consistant(muscle memory)

I don't think it is neccessary in MW because of the slower movement and accurate weapons. Taking out aim-assist from other games like Halo would make it really bad though. Have you ever tried killing your teammates with an AR or SMG in Halo?

What?

I don't understand why everyone comes up with this laggy connection ****. It's not 1999 anymore. There's like 1 in about 25 games that there's a bad lag issue. Well on PS3 anyways. It's not really an excuse. The sticks are fine. If you can't get kills, you just have to practice. Anyways, COD's too quick to notice the aim assist unless you're a camper.

Yup accurate weapons, and excellent controls 1:1 gamepad on screen unlike some other games.

But yeah I hope i get to see a popular game like this come to consoles before i retire from gaming.

yeah but the mouse is so much more accurate and quick i'm not even that good only consider my self above average on the pc but i have no doubt i could compete with the best of the console gamers. hell i played several rounds of killzone 2 online and placed in the top 3 on the score board for my team bare in mind i'm a pc only gamer who hasn't touched a gamepad in quite some time let alone play an fps on one so if i could do that good with a gamepad against seasoned console players i can only imagine if i had a mouse and keyboard!

Yes they should take autoaim off. If someone can't get kills because they suck then so be it. If people want to complain that they need it because of gamepads then too bad, they chose to game on consoles.

Auto-aim is what GTA uses. It's just aim assists.

But LOL at the OP. Take aim assists out of MW2? Who the hell would play it? Nobody.

Those games require people to actually have intelligence, skill and reflexes. Those are the 3 things COD's community lacks.

I was just playing SOCOM before and this guy walked up behind me and shot..he missed almost every bullet. Man it's been so long since I played a game that took skill on consoles.

Gears of war and 2 have no aim assist, and some how i still manage to kill players, Therfore i respectfully disagree.Your opinion would be more relevant if you said that you dont hit anythiing when playing on a console.

This.

It's a gross exaggeration. I find that sticky aim hinders my shots more often than it helps with a controller, especially with regard to jumping, dropshotting, shotgunning muppets. I would rather have a mouse and keyboard though.

I don't agree, the sticks are actually quite good man, I've played on the pc for years and years and years, and trust me once you get used to the gamepad, oh boy every kill gives you incredible satisfaction. :]

Um... Did you play many of the Private glitch games? Try killing your teammates, it wasn't that bad, but you were on Rust, it can't be hard when they are always in CQB. But lining up other shots is near impossible, some friends of mine who don't suck whatsoever, they aren't the nooby crowd, we had an extremely difficult time aiming the shots. I wouldn't mind it lowered, but getting rid of it would be a mistake. Even the option would, since it would bring a whole new element of elitism, and whining.

no, without it console players would never hit anything. between the sticks and laggy P2P connection you actually need aim assit.

A perfect example of how bad aim assists are on consoles is to play Halo. I love the game but wow it's ridiculous. Killing enemies is so easy, yet teamkilling is the hardest thing ever to do.

Before we stopped playing, me and my friends used to play private matches where we were all on the same team and tried to kill eachother. 15 minute games would end with someone getting only about 10 kills.
