The results will be supplied in article form by Eurogamer's Digital Foundry and Lens of Truth.

Common statements on System Wars:

"Rockstar-published games are always better on Xbox 360."

"The reason why Sony has to get exclusive content is because their version of a multiplat is always worse."

"3 DVDs are better than a 1 Blu-ray with mandatory installs."

Me personally, since I have a multiplatform game to compare this situation to (Final Fantasy XIII), I will say that L.A. Noire will look and play better on PS3 due to the similarities of development that it has with Final Fantasy XIII (developed on PS3 first; 3 DVDs on Xbox 360).

Oh, and FYI, I originally purchased FFXIII on the Xbox 360 (when I had one) out of hype.

As it's developed on the PS3 first and then ported to the 360 it would be a disgrace if the 360 version was better !

PS3 version, probably. Though differences should be negligible and nothing significant.

That doesn't make the game better, that just makes you lazy.

I'm getting the PS3 version for that reason though. Actually I'll probably wind up with both versions.

The differences will be very minor, probably one will get better shadows or something that most people wont even notice.

No, unlike crashes or glitches. Pause menus and bathroom breaks are brought up due to my choice to break up immersion for necessary matters.

I usually rent to own through Gamefly. I'll usually get both versions and buy the best one. I lie to see for my self which version is best. Sometimes like with Burnout Paradise I'll wind up owning both. I don't know, it's just a thing.

Except that's not what will happen. :| You're not going to have to be constantly swapping discs. There will be 2 disc swaps, and both of those will occur at points between cases where the flow of the game isn't interuppted. R* themselves said this.

so 2 disc swaps over a possible 15 hour+ game breaks immersion more then a pause menu? you must have hated every game on the ps1.

hahaha, why are you getting so defensive on how Vesica operates when he/she games? I loved playing lost Odyssey but one of the things i hated was when I just beat a boss and then the "insert disc 2" screen when come up. Then i would have to get up and swap discs, its not really a big deal but its a hindrance and if lost Odyssey was to come out for the ps3 with only 1 disc then I would have gotten that version. Also it had 4 CD'S so it got tedious. So its not a big deal that we gotta swap discs but i rather have the version that comes with free dlc and 1 disc.

I really don't understand the immersion excuse. It's basically the same thing if you have to pause the game to answer the phone or take a leak.

Most of the multidisk games (there haven't been that many that I've played this gen) have handled the disk swapping issue somewhat decently. It's not like you are getting up every 5 minutes or a disk swapping screen pops up in the middle of a firefight. It's a minor issue..Really minor.

All that said I can understand people who have that choice would go for the option not to swap, but it really isn't something that I would put up as a strong negative.

PS3 cuz of its online capabiliites.... :P

nah seriously... because PS3 was lead platform. I'm still getting the 360 version though, since I no longer own a PS3. I imagine the 2 versions will be quite similar... 360 will have better lighting and AA... PS3 less screen tearing... you know, the usual stuff.

How long ago was that, they have worked on 360 version for a while now, and if they found it easier it could be better. You may have a point though.

Oh guys STFU about disc-swapping...give it a rest.

And my money is on the PS3 based on the fact that it started production as a PS3 exclusive...so that would make most sense.

Ghostbusters says hi.

You have to get up a total of twice, with no break in immersion, and you just know that the PS3 version will be in the middle of a 30 sec load at that time anyway :)

I'm going to go with no meaningful differences. I'll decide once I know more about the controls as I suspect controller preference will be more important than any minor differences on anything else.

Caseytappy
not really, a lot of work that goes into getting the ps3 version up and running also optimizes the 360 version, this is why even if they lead on the ps3 its usually similar vs if they lead on the 360 its disparity is much more noticable. Not to mention if they lead on the ps3 its still possible to look slightly better on 360, unless they really use the SPU's in such a way that the 360 is going to struggle with likely they will be the same or extremely close to it. I'm slightly leaning to 360 for it looking better, i think with the slight ram advantage and better shader power the 360 can have a bit of an advantage on self shadows, though the ps3 might handle the super awesome facial animation better.

the ps3 version is the lead version so there's no way it'll look or perform worse than the 360 version, and it has 1 disc and exclusive content.

I won't be getting it until later this year though.

if theres a mandatory install which i ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN HATE, then itll be 360 without question. ill swap a disk before i sit through and use up unneccesary resources on an install in a heartbeat. when you factor in the time it takes to sit through an install vs swapping even 3 disks youll spend less time on useless crap when swapping disks vs installing: FACT

As both a non-PS3 and non XBox360 gamer (aside from gaming at my friends' or cousin's) I have to ask : what's the big deal with disk swapping? It takes 10 seconds! Surely, compared with your total gaming time, this is negligible isn't it? I remember disk swapping on my Gamecube; it was a non-issue...

I haven't seen this be the case for any multiple disc game since ps1 or something. all the ones this gen don't require swap at zones. they are at the end and beginning of chapters. which is a natural intermission anyway.

I think the PS3 version will look slightly better but who cares? Almost all of the multiplat differences this gen have been blown wildly out of proportion.

I'll be getting the PS3 version because I prefer a single bluray and exclusive content.

Who cares which version will be slightly better? Besides the disc swapping there isn't going to be the big of a difference between the two versions.

People complain about long load times interrupting the game, whether it's at a good time or not. I see disk swapping as a viable complaint.

[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"][QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"] so 2 disc swaps over a possible 15 hour+ game breaks immersion more then a pause menu? you must have hated every game on the ps1.

True_Chaos_UK

hahaha, why are you getting so defensive on how Vesica operates when he/she games? I loved playing lost Odyssey but one of the things i hated was when I just beat a boss and then the "insert disc 2" screen when come up. Then i would have to get up and swap discs, its not really a big deal but its a hindrance and if lost Odyssey was to come out for the ps3 with only 1 disc then I would have gotten that version. Also it had 4 CD'S so it got tedious. So its not a big deal that we gotta swap discs but i rather have the version that comes with free dlc and 1 disc.

While I agree it being on 1 disc would be better, in lost odyssey I remember changing each disc like every 10 hours and at certain points in the story that felt like a conclusion to that part, I find it hard to see how 4 disc swaps over the best part of 2 straight days is tedious.

because, the disc swaps usually happen after something big happened in the story, then "then insert disc 2 screen", that irked me a little and i found it tedious, sorry if you have a problem with that
