I just started this game a few days ago. It has not aged well (first time playing by the way). It's very unimpressive at the moment, but the folks at gamefaqs said it picks up.
And it's battle system is frustrating in every way possible.

Downgrading it from 60fps to 30fps wasn't helping it either :p
Although i still think this is the best version of symphonia, as the gamecube version looks horrendous on any tv.
It's not as good as I remember, but I'm enjoying it a hell of a lot more than I did Xillia.
Fun Fact: The Gamecube version is 60 FPS while this version is only 30 FPS. :O

lol if true.
Anyways I'll probably get it later this year (most likely the summer).

Probably because this is an upgrade of the inferior PS2 version.
I've never played the sequel to Symphonia, how is it?
It's one of the worst Tales games, but better than Graces f and Legendia.
Graces f has one of the best combat system in any jrpg to date, that alone puts it above symphonia 2

wow seriously? It's not that stressful a game, I would expect even with the updated graphics the PS3 should be able to handle it at 60fps
early ps4 owners got shunned again. thats why i will never buy another sony system early. they are too greedy to make good games on their new systems till the user base gets real big. remember when i bought my ps3 and ps2 was getting god of war 2 and a whole bunch of rpgs and all i had was warhawk and eye of judgement . loved those 2 games but damn why cant they just release the rpgs on the new systems too specially now with ps4. there is already 5 million people who bought it would it kill them to port it and put a nice coat of paint on them like they did with killzone and second son???
Been playing the heck out of this collection and i LOVE IT! Tales of Symphonia is pretty amazing but man it is just me or do the characters take AGES to level up? every battle gives like 36EXP -_-
big thanks to Banco Bandai for making this collection as i missed on both games before.
@Bigboi500:
Ugh, if the sequel is that bad then maybe I should have just bought Symphonia by itself off the PSN store.
I'm having a great time with it so far, I loved Graces, didnt really like Xillia, but this game just seems to be made with more love. Didnt get to play it back in the day.

hold on there. First of all i wouldint put worst on the sequel the game is good however its not better then grace f.
It's fantastic. The Japanese voice overs are so much better than the English ones.
ehhhh i prefer the eng dub to the jpn dub.
I will say it has aged better than a lot of game from back then but one thing which infuriates me is the speed of the text. I've got it set to max speed and basically, as I can read very fast I'm getting fed up of waiting for the snail pace text to finally make its way to the end of the screen so the next dialogue box can open.
Had this on the GC but bought it for it's sequel and it's upgrade, and I'm still enjoying it.

SAME! while i dont mind either of them i just never understood the nagging about English dubs and never found any issues with them.. the voice actors are doing their best to voice the games and then someone comes in and ask about dual audio? gtfo!
:P
i mean i dont mind Japanese Audio with English subs as i watch anime that way but if devs are going to hire English voice actors for the game then at least appreciate the English dubs not constant nagging ( which i always tend to see whenever a Japanese game is confirmed for a Western release ).

Normally I don't mind English voice acting in anime/games, but sometimes they speak it in a monotone nature with no enthusiasm. I've already experienced the game on the Gamecube in English, so I'm giving the Japanese tracks a try. In all versions, the skits are silent in English and you can only see their mouths moving with no sound, but they are voiced in Japanese.
It's funny because I like Lloyd a lot better now because his Japanese voice fits his character better than the English one that sounds like the kid from Leave it to Beaver or some other corny show from the 1960's.

The skits are voiced in the Japanese tracks? didnt know that but yeah the silent skits in the English tracks are so boring that i began to skip them as i guess i got too used to them being voiced thanks to Tales of Graces F and Tales of Xillia.
My only issue with Tales of Symphonia so far is the terrible camera during the Field or the laughable enemy designs that has only two versions where one looks like a messed up dinosaur and the other that looks like a sperm.
I just got to Tower of Salvation :D
I may give the Japanese track ago after i beat the game like you did giving the other version a try.

Yep, never got to play with the Japanese voices. Love this game so much. My favorite Tales games by far. It's aged decently I'd say. I for one like the battle system a ton.

Battle system is really fun i agree but not as addictive as Tales of Xillia tbh

Symphonia is much more simple in design. Xillia has a great battle system, yes, but I like Symphonia overall better.
It goes Symphonia>Vesperia>Abyss>Xillia>Eternia>Graces for me. Haven't gotten around to playing Legendia, Phantasia, or Destiny yet.

He is voiced by robin from teen titans and to me it fits perfectly. Llyod isint a grown man after all.
