What do you mean by technically speaking?  Do you mean gameplay, graphics......what exactly are judging the game by?

If you are trying to say graphic wise, Probably Gears of War for X360 is the most visually stunning.

But is that what you mean by technically?

Lair looks like it'll be the best PS3 game so far....don't know until I actually play it though.  But remember there is a little game for the X360 coming out called Halo 3.  Before you start crowning PS3 titles like MGS4 or Lair........don't fool yourself into thinking Halo will be a dog in any way shape or form.

Games that wowed me: Oblivion, Gears of War

Games that I hope will wow me: Heavenly Sword, FF XIII, Bioshock, Mass Effect and Fable 2.

i like to devide graphics and technical achievement. next gen enemy movement and a.i. makes for better games then just better graphics. just graphics gears of war, advance warfighter, oblivion all look great. i didn;t see much new technical achievement in gears of war, the enemy movement in resistance looks better, i think the large enemies are called stalkers, but they move brilliantly, truely look self controlled and have no patterns, they acturly go for others not just you, i felt fighting them was next gen.magrappy

Totally agree, I mean I was playing the single player for ROFM on normal and the damn AI is pretty smart. I mean I havent tried it on the harder modes, but I died quite a few times in the normal settings, so I believe they must be alot harder in the harder modes, but good thing I heard is u unluck new weapons u can grab the next time around playing the game. I also found the game compared to geow alot funner because the challenge and riding in those spider like vehicles was awsome, wish they had that online, that would be a blast if they added those and the other vehicles to the online play. Honestly though, I had no trouble on every setting on geow going through the game single player and thought it was ok but was very short, so it was down grade for me in the single player mode for geow. I wont take nothing away thought for the graphics of geow and online, is pretty solid but the online gets tiring fast because 4 on 4 combat, doesnt due it justice. I mean I still have more fun playing halo 2 then geow, and is the reason I play RFOM online more and started playing halo 2, to get ready for the beta this may, so I can own some of these people. Read my gamertag and if u see me online, get ready to get owned, and if u talk smack, im gonna kill u online and teabag u and come talk about it on here, lol. :)

I'm saying visually, A.L...watever impresses you the most it don't have to be just graphics, and Halo is one of the biggest games in this industri so not even the biggest fanboy can say anything else, but i'm just picking the best from what i seen so far and Halo have not impresed me yet

Gears looks fantastic. However, Lair isn't even out. Can't compare them.

Last gen - God of War 2 for massive production value, Okami and Sotc for amazing art, Silent Hill 3 had photorealistic character models. PS2 has so many big production games with excellent art style and imo it had many of the best looking games last gen because of how it rendered combined with art..... Xbox was more powerful but it rendered like a PC and there was rarely good art style so now the games just look dated.

Current - GeOW is definately the best looking game on an individual level thus far. But it ends up looking the same as all these Unreal3 games that are coming out..... games built off of middleware engines and effects always look so dated in a couple years - remeber Doom3 anyone?

Spore. the shear scope of the game is amazing and to know that all of it is based on user design and procedural code is a thing of beauty.

I'd have to say lair, 4000 enemies on the ground(that you can fight), pretty good graphics, giant worlds, streaming textures, all running in 1080p...munu9

a lot of the ground troops didn't really impress me. they all looked like they had the same animation and didn't look detailed at all. (no where near the lvl of Medieval Total War 2)

Damn, great minds must think alike.:P I would agree with that list overall as well, but I would replace Gears of War with OBLIVION.;) 

Lair is definitely the most impressive game on the immediate horizon that I have seen. The graphics, and overall amounts of things happening on the screen at one time is simply amazing.

Other upcoming games that I think should be of note is of course Assassin's Creed, as well as Overlord, Turok, and especially ELVEON....That game is also looking remarkably amazing. 

Most definitely not Gears.

Crysis is of course above and beyond anything, and Lair seems to be packing an amazing amount of detail for such huge game areas.
