Tekken 6 not a ps3 exclusive, says Developer Staff.

From the interview of GamEX magazine in their latest issue (posted below) with Namco Bandai staff regarding Tekken 6. I just got around to reading it this afternoon, and I was quite surprised to read this tidbit.

In the introduction it says:

"The GamEX staff got an exclusive interview with Japan's Bandai-Namco Tekken Team, Haruki Suzaki, project director for Tekken 5 DR and Ryuichi Enomoto, International Sales Representative whent they visited the Philippines as special guests of Quantum Amusement Corp.'s Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Tournament."

Later in the interview:

"GamEX: Wow! 2 years (laughs). Will it be exclusive for the Playstation 3 console?

Suzaki: No, it hasn't been determined yet as of the moment, but we are developing it for Playstation 3 so you can play it.

GamEX: Will Tekken 6 be available in other consoles like the Xbox 360?

Ryuichi: As of the moment we have no idea"

So is Tekken 6 coming to the Xbox 360? Maybe.

Same chance as Mass Effect trilogy though, they stated that the current lead platform was 360 but they're considering their options.

It will be exclusive for 2 years. Doesn't seem like it'll be hurting PS3 much IMO.

if one already owns a 360, the purchase of a PS3 is becoming more and more redundant

It's only being developed for the PS3 as of now, so yes it's a ps3 exclusive.

ya i kinda have to agree, one "good" fighting game going to 360 doesnt mean ps3 is done at all. Im a 360 owner btw.

Im not entirely surprised. Namco are throwing their whole weight behind the 360 it seems this gen. doenst make a whole lot of sense to me though, because it doesnt seem to be getting a whole lot back. Ace Combat Sold decently, but outside of that, im not quite getting what their motivation is.

And even with that aside, every fighter ive played on the 360 so far has suffered because of the D Pad. Tekken will be no different.

What's the big deal? Chances are, it will be released, if it doesn't meet sales targets or it is very popular, it will get ported.

The arcade CPU is based off the CELL, for the specific reason of ensuring this as a PS3 console. Not only that butSony and Bandai Namco have increased there relations, to the point where they opened a small subsidary to make PS3 only games. Tekken 6 is a Playstation 3 console exclusive, till they day they put it on 360 which by the looks of it isn't going to happen.Adrian_Cloud

Ahh those were the days, that was my daily game back in the day - I couldnt give a damn about Tekken anymore, it died when it all went wrong with Tekken 4.

YH: Well, it was a matter of, what else would we do it on instead? To explain how things developed, back when this project started, it was 2005 and we weren't finished with Abyss yet. With Abyss, we were feeling the limits of what we could do, and it became fairly firm that our next title would be on new hardware and in high definition. So when it came to choose a platform, the 360 was all there was. As we proceeded with development for the 360, if another platform came out, which now would be the PS3 -- it wasn't very finalized at the time, but it might have been an option -- if the PS3 had exploded into a much larger market than the 360, I can't say what we might have done, but at a certain stage we decided we should go ahead and do this first on the 360. That should clear it up. This has the been the situation for a couple of games.
