No you don't. Steam is a free service, the only thing you have to pay for is the games.

Nope, steam is free. You only pay when you buy a game, then that game is forever tied to your account. If you can sign in, you can download games you have bought off of steam.

What are we missing? because i've played tf2 on 360 and the pc version is just as broken as the 360 and ps3 version its a bunch of campers running around and mostly mechanics setting up turrets that are overly powered.WilliamRLBaker

well for one your missing about 10 maps, 9 weapons, 100 achievements...custom maps...no lag at all....

oh and the PC version plays completly different from the console version...dont even try to pretend that you have played it.

Turrets have the advantage of surprise, as soon as you un-knowingly walk into its line of fire you will most likely die. But if you know where it is, you can more than likely take out a turrent single handedly. So they aren't overpowered, you just suck.

The pc version is just not broken atall, its leagues ahead of the 360/PS3 :\

What?

TF2 doesn't have terrible lag on PC, well that depends on the server you go into. But most servers are indeed lag free, as they're all dedicated.

Free updates and patches, the classes are much more balanced on the PC version because of all the tweeks done to them. An addition of over 100 achievements that get you to unlock weapons. They plan on doing it for every class, but right now they have Medic, Heavy, and Pyro done. New types of gameplay (Payload, where you escort a cart through a map and Arena, a Counter-strike-esque one no respawn deathmatch.) Tons of new Official Maps (too many to remember right now. :))

Oh, and don't forget custom maps and custom skins!

NS is great. :) I've been patiently awaiting NS2 for years now. :D

when i go to their teamfortress two page, it doesnt have the free download. i know it starts tomorrow but is there a way to predownload it cause the download isnt up or im going to the wrong page. i have the game already but my friend likes it but doesnt want to buy it (or maybe his comp can't run it... he pretty much spends everyday on halo 3). i want him to try the game out for more than a few minutes at my house.bionicle_lover

camping dosn't really happen in it, you don't get kills by camping, or is what you're calling camping just defending? And turrets have quite a short range so you can use rockets too take them out or grenades from behind cover or you could just use electorsappers which are specially designed for the job.....

anyway... If you want the free weekend you have to download steam and make a steam account first, all of which is completely free. here is where you want to go for all the steps including pre-loading soyou can play straight away when the free weekend goes live
