I liked it.
i think the thing that will knock it down is the whole "turn based just seems so dated" garbage like rpgs actually have good gameplay to begin with.
and the us voice overs are going to stink. i dont know, but they ususally do.jg4xchamp
Well, it really depends. When considering traditional JRPGs, having an excellent story and character interaction usually overshadows some of the shortcomings of the so called "dated" gameplay. Randomecounters, for instance, might seem frustrating but if the battle system is good enough and the story is intriguing to make you wanna go on, then you wouldn't really mind it much.
Luckily, LO's story looks to be very good especially when you take into account who's writing it. Plus, from this footage, the battle system looks fun to play and tankfully, unlike Blue Dragon, you don't have one animation for most of the attacks. The game looks like a next-gen FFX (hopefully, a lot less linear too).
Also, judging from the english trailer from E3, the english voice acting is actually pretty good. So there's hope there, plus, I believe there will be a Japanese voice option to choose in the NA version.

yeah but i even watch anime in english. SOrry but i listen to things i can understand. How to put this gently....
Just above PS2 graphics, boring looking typical JRPG characters somewhat reminds me of the flop that was Enchanted Arms ... a Downgrade on the Final Fantasy Series...
Oh that wasnt too gently ...

Ok the PS2 comment was harsh, but it IS very under whelming, fact is the character models alone are NOT that much better than what was found in Final Fantasy 12 on the PS2, the effects and what not are better but again not by much.
How can anyone say this is amazing ... its not only more of the same, its effortless more of the same ... the worst kind.

Yes the characters models aren't much more better than those from FF12, but the environment togheter with the animations are very good looking.LO=FF rip off. Not entirely a bad thing. It looks good.mazdero
You do know that the guy that created the FF series is the guy that is making LO right?
Anyway I see this as a good start for him, over the years I see him making some amazing JRPG's for the 360. Blue dragon wasnt the best but this is a lot better quailty and it will continue to get better from here. Blue Dragon didnt exactly do it for me but Ill be getting Lost Oddessy most likely.

He should of went into another direction tbh, the only credibility I will give is the msuic... everything else is bland.

I don't see it so much as bland, but more like proven tried and true gameplay and art direction. Sakaguchi has been doing this for long enough to know what works and what connects with people. We saw it in Blue Dragon, and we see it here. It doesn't so much reach out to the people who want a fresh and innovative rpg experience, as much as it does to people who long for rpgs from the old days.
In short, hes playing the nostalgia card.

Umm, yes, and? It is exactly like FF. He left square to make the same exact game? The game looks good, but it is still a ff rip off, regardless of whether he created it or not. He doesn't own FF, square does, so it is still a rip off. Like I said, it still looks good, so what is your gripe?
