The 360 actually died a couple of years ago

The Xbox 360 has had an amazing life span, it has been going on since 2005. That's before the iPhone, before Twitter, before Youtube! But has anyone actually checked to see if it's still alive?

Where are the games? Some Gears of Wars prequel? They have gone so far down that joint they are going backwards. What else, the usual third party ports?  Let's face it, Lemmings; your system has been smelling up this place for a good while now.

Look at that thing, it has Call of Duty 2 on the faceplate. People born after Call of Duty 2 came out can now register and post here among us! They'll have better grammar than some of us too!

The Xbox 360 died in 2009, having lived it's full generational lifetime of 4 years (same as the original Xbox). Sales were going down, it was ready to go. But something happened, the Kinect:

Microsoft rebooted the console as a whole new system with this amazing thing called Kinect that let you play with a controller, and the console experienced sales similar to that of a new launch!

That's right, the Xbox 360 is a zombie.

For the past few years you Lemmings have been playing a zombie. Microsoft knows it's dead, that's why they make their E3 press conferences be about Kinectimals and Univision and Nickelodeon. "Core gamers? Ha! Let the third parties care about that, we gonna rake in the cash!" says Palmer and other Microsoft stooges. 

And what's worse, since zombie Xbox 360 was more popular than alive Xbox 360, guess which system they will try to model their next-gen system from?

That's right, the dead one.

You guys are going to be getting a corpse next-gen, with full Univision support, no used games, always online DRM, paywall multiplayer, and the usual works from Microsoft. Congrats, Lemmings; you are now doomed.

I enjoy 1-2 exclusives per year that I bought for my 360s these last four years, but I've been with them since 2005...and before that if you count Xbox. I have a ton of games, but there is no denying they tried really hard at first, and started the limp around 2009.

I would fancy a stronger exclusive/1st party lineup, but they put the majority of their eggs in a Kinect basket. A basket I had no desire to pull spoiled eggs from. It worked, and worse, people buy and defend it, so it's not going anywhere, which is a shame because I have no interest in Kinect or a Kinect HD/2.

It was good for multiplats if you only had a 360 but I have all the machines and let them compete for my time. I don't like buying multiplats on 360 anymore because I had five RRODs this gen, and one E74. That changed my 360s from multiplats and exclusive machines to simply exclusives only. Saves on wear and tear. My 360s are now mainly for exclusives and I can get multiplats elsewhere (PC, PS3, etc). Although I have Xbox Live, I don't like the idea of being locked out of multiplayer in the future that is free on every other machine. I have been gravitating away from the service even though I'm a longtime consumer because I only use it for exclusives these days. The idea is I can finally ween myself from paying for the service one day.

The Xbox creatives aren't in control, the masterminds behind the creation of the Xbox brand have left, and the suits are running the show. As a longtime Xbox consumer, it has felt like the brand has just been cruise control. I can only hope they plan on changing their standards for the 720 release. I do play more 360 more than my Wii U though, Nintendo needs to release Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101, these delays are awful.

The 360 has still gotten pretty much every multiplat released this gen, and got first dibs on several of this gen's best downloadable games. I agree that it has been weak on the exclusives front since it was pretty much Halo/Gears/Forza and then Kinect, but the quality of those series remained consistent throughout this gen and are amongst the top in their respective genres. Calling the 360 dead since 2009 is just silly.BPoole96

360 is still good it hasn't a lot of great exclusives recently I feel like MS is too depended on Kinect.

And that right there is why the Xbox brand went downhill after 2007 or 2008.

The day the 360 died is on my sig. That was the last day Microsoft put effort into it with the Gears release. So that is the day it died. Halo 4, Dance Central 3  and Horizon came out last year and the last 2 years of the Summer of Arcade games have been fantastic. There was not a lot delivered but what was delivered was great games.

an over 7 year old console is like looking at the pyramids in the scheme of things in the game world.

pretty amazing to come from nowhere and boom, make the longest lasting console with no replacement announced  ever produced.

and sure it may be a bit sucky here down at the assend of the generation  but i really can't get too mad at an old console for not delivering.

that's  like being pissy that your grandfather has a shytty time in the 100 yard dash.

I got a 360 in 2008 just to play the Forza / Gears / Halo series... Although not a huge Halo fan the games are fun while Forza & Gears were awesome...

Surely would have loved a bit more support in the past years but i honestly never expected MS to compete with Sony / nintendo when it comes to exclusives !!
