Well after being PC exclusive so far this gen I had wanted to buy a 360. The problem was almost all games I really wanted were coming to PC. What was left? Gears of war? Dead rising? Not worth $600 thanks.

Now finally I can buy it and be happy to know it's worth it with Forza 2, Mass effect, Halo 3, GTA4(+ content), that jet fighter game I forget the name of, Halo Wars, Blue Dragon, Dirt(the non starforce edition  )and others the lineup of exclusives is finally starting to shine.
I won't bother with an HD-DVD though. That things dying a slow painful death.
The one thing I'm worried about though is the fail rate. I don't care how many lemmings think 90% are faked I know for a fact WAY too many break so now I gotta fork out $100 for a3 year warranty which sucks.

I'm still a PC gamer and will get games like bioshock and UT3 on PC but now I have a much bigger range of games to play. :)

I honestly don't know why people would pick the PS3 or Wii over it at the moment. The 360 does have it's faults but the PS3 is pretty much an extremely expensive($1000 Australian, $845US :|)360 with fewer games. If I want a blu-ray I'll wait until they're cheap just like when dvd's came out and when they become the norm. $40 for a 20 year old movie when it's $3.95 on dvd? Get the hell out of here.

And the Wii is just...blech. What's on it? Nothing. Upcoming games? Ok at best. I'll pick it uplater(a lotlater)like I did with the GCN when more games are out like SMG and SSBB which will probably be mid 2008 in PAL countries(Thanks a lot nintendo nice to see you care so much with your no region lock...oh wait).

I was open to buying any console but 360 does seem the best by far at the moment. The Forza 2 bundle is a good deal too(Although I guess the PS3 is selling with like 2 free games now is good too because of poor sales but whatever).

It's kinda sad when a PC gamer picks the 360 as the best consolethough the 360 is theclosest to a pc out of all of them. Come on other consoles, pick it up!

Why? Just this year we've had Shivering isles, C&C3, Stalker, Supreme commander, burning crusade and others. It's been good.

The games are definitely fantastic, but I would probably tell potential buyers to hold off until they roll out the 65nm CPU's.

I was going too but that could be months away and even if it's like december in the US that'll most likely be Feb/March 2008 for Aussies.

They should seeing as I own almost 5% of MS in shares!

nah I'm just kidding.

I wasn't going to buy one. The only thing that has changed my mind is the addition of HDMI and a 120 gig hard drive. Now I think I am interested. I'm going to wait for Blue Dragon though. I may still pass and get a PS3 instead.

Actually, I'm a hermit looking into getting a 360. But like the TC said, the failure rate is scaring the beejezus outta me. Frustrating really. Mass Effect looks killer.

keep it in a ventilated area, or just wait for the new cooling.

The place where I normally put my consoles is in direct contact with a ducted heating vent.
I'll need to find a new place.

I wanted an elite but they don't sell them in Australia yet but they have the 120GB hard drive for sale so I'll get that later on.

And I know this is off topic but what IS HDMI anyway? Is it just another picture enhancing thing?

Edit: Oh and by the way to the people who say I should wait. I can't. There are some games that force me into buying a new system. Half-life 2 was one(New PC), Oblivion was another(upgrade), Halo 1 was one too and now Mass Effect. I'm pleased to say MY system buyer games have all been great so I hope it is still true now.

Have fun with the 360. I remember hearing that the newer 360s aren't as prone to breaking. Try getting one with Gears of War on the box. That could be a load of crap but thats just what I read on a topic here...so its probably crap =P

Not for a PC gamer.

darklord888

He is right,I'm a PC gamer and it was worth buying the Second Dead Rising was released but Gears was the killer app.

Basically if you see games that aren't FPS is worth buying for Example Viva Piñata,Dead rising,Crackdown,Forza 2 also that if you cant upgrade your PC is a good choice.

The live is also a good reason,it offers the old school pc gamers like me games like the New Prince of Persia and Doom with added stuff like online and enhanced graphics, boy i missed those.I only need Ishar and ug-olympics.

Not to mention that you get some games first like Gears and Halo before they hit the PC and play better in consoles.

HDMI is an all-digital video/audio connection. There is no interference because it is digital, and it's convenient because it is just one cable. Oh yes, it allows uncompressed data to be transferred, so it ensures the highest quality for future TVs, games, PC moniters, ect.

I have my 360 for over a year no issues, so that is a false statement.
