Honestly, I can say that the 360 isn't going to last, or stay strong, over the next few years. It's just outdated hardware(HD-DVD? Blu-ray is the accepted medium, and it'll continue to grow through the next few years to come), inferior in comparison to the PS3. That being said, the Wii doesn't seem to make sales well at all right now with their games(Wii Music only sold about 80,000 copies worldwide; tough break for an overhyped, over-marketed game- quite a loss for Nintendo), so that'll be the first to go down, possibly with another Nintendo console to be released. The PS3 is having a rough time right now due to economic regression, and people not willing to spend a lot on expensive hardware. But the way I see it, as Blu-ray sales increase year after year(I didn't actually know about the capabilities of it until 08, and that was where it has grown most in the movie and gaming industry), and as people see how much movies are enhanced in blu-ray format, they may also see the difference of games in blu-ray. And I think I see Sony benifiting quite a bit from continued steady sales(I say steady because they aren't through the roof, but not terrible either-generally acceptable as it's not the only focus of the vast company who also manufactures other electronics such as TVs or computers). That being said, if the quality of games can keep up(and it looks pretty good with games like Killzone 2, inFamous and Uncharted 2 coming out soon, showing great potential of the PS3's superior hardware, with some more quality titles on the way). If these games can truly display the superior power of games in blu-ray format, then the PS3 would benefit as movies are already transitioning to the blu-ray format in many cases. The 360 will probably still be around, like DVD, so that Sony doesn't completely annhilate the competition(the 360 and DVD will probably still be around for quite a while). Now, I can't quite say if this would happen, but it could happen, and this is my prediction. My guess right now is that the 360 is just what's in right now, like iPods and iPhones, that, just like all other fads, are most likely to end at a certain time.
I've had thoughts of purchasing a 360 for games like Gears and Alan Wake, but I went against it because it doesn't seem to have much lasting value like the PS3 could when it benefits from blu-ray sales. Not a Sony fanboy, but with growing awareness of blu-ray tech, this is what I envision. However, anything could happen. 360 may be the system for low-budget games because it's affordable, and also for those devs looking for more profit(it's receiving more and more exclusive DLC right now, so that's what keeps it strong other than being widely accepted by the public in gaming). The PS3 could well dominate THIS year, but it will depend on Sony's decisions with their powerhouse console. Judgement would most likely start with whether Killzone 2 is known to the public and does it deliver.
