I just watched the new Narnia film on DVD because they didn't receive the BD copy at my local BB yet. I was amazed of the difference between DVD and BD, and that's why I'll never go back to watching DVDs, it's not even close.

I don't use my 360 for any media functionality, due to its identity I have for it and more importantly, I don't like the interface/controls. I do watch DVDs all the time too. I just prefer the PS3's video/music playback intuitiveness and options. And of course Blu-ray is perfect for all the movies that really take advantage of it.

I know your not, the point is if you are paying that much for a BD when they are so much cheaper other places, well that's totally on you.

Actually not just DVD, I know some people buy the Xbox just to stream videos/audio from their networked PC.

A normal media streamer like this below is much more expensive than the Xbox.

I know what u mean..but i still think that 20 or 25 bucks for a movie is a ripoff still, especially for crappy movies..and i know the facts that BR movies are expensive because of the video and sound quality..

Give the movie a couple months and it's $15 on amazon... There are places that sell regular DVDs for $25 still, and regular DVDs were $35 when they first came out too. The price argument is really grasping for straws against Blu Ray

Clearly you don't buy Blu Ray movies, I got the Dark Knight today for $25 and most older movies are usually around $20 or less. In fact, some are nearly the same or just a little bit more than their dvd counterpart.

Once you go blu, there's no going back for me. I love my blu-rays. The difference is night and day. Also since my 360 isn't connected properly (no HDMI) to upconvert DVDs, I would watch them on my PS3 anyways (it does and is in HDMI) but even still, the picture quality of BD and DVD is huge, and the sound.

I totally agree. I have paid $20 for BRs that aren't that old and most new BR movies sell for $25. The most I have paid for a BR was $30 and it was the double disc SE of Beauty and the Beast for my fiance and daughter

But i dont ever see it exploding like DVD. DVD was much better quality wise but offered so much more, like 5.1 sound, great storage ability, extra features and more, and importantly, it could be experienced by ANYBODY Even i am still pretty happy with DVD quality on some releases with a good upscaler, im guessing most casuals wont notice that much, let alone set their TVs right

Dough blu-rays have amazing quality :o it's cool to have a blu-ray player/ps3 only if you have a full HD tv. Blu-rays look good on SD tvs too but on 1080p TVs mmmmm8)

Once you do that you may never go back. I feel in love with surround to the point that now I have it in my living room and bed room. With the right set up, Blu Ray shows the difference.

If it makes you feel better your closer than I am! I got television speakers on a measly 19-inch for my dorm.

Sigh, looks like my imagination will be going into overdrive tonight...

EDIT: Here's the complete info on that setup. It's only a soul-wrenching $6 million... :P

there are some awesome holiday deals in stores too. People just have to look around. There is this 3 for the price of 2 deal where I live, plus WB has this "get 3 WB movies and get a fourth for free" deal. That means I can get 4 movies for the price of 2;) that is, if they're all WB movies.

I think we all know that X360 can play DVDs but its a non factor because no one would ever spend $200+ dollars on an X360 for DVD playing capabilities when they can buy a DVD player for $50 or less. And besides, who in this day and age has a TV but doesnt have a DVD player?

Once you get Netflix on the 360, paying for Blurays is just silly. For less than the price of one DVD you can watch unlimited movies. I'd rather do that than see one movie in Bluray 1080i HD. It's like saying "Nah , I'd rather play my one game with a perfect 10 in graphics and average gameplay instead of having a huge game library." I mean really does anyone use the in-movie friends commentary. What a waste.

First, it's not the same quality as BD. Second, BD is 1080p. Third, BD also has the best audio available... Well worth the $10-$24 I pay.

More people still have SD TV than HD, so DVD is still good to have. PS3 also play DVD's though, but is more expensive because of blu-ray.

[QUOTE="player_leo"]Once you get Netflix on the 360, paying for Blurays is just silly. What a waste.Chutebox
First, it's not the same quality as BD. Second, BD is 1080p. Third, BD also has the best audio available... Well worth the $10-$24 I pay.

4th, not everyone has high speed internet that allows them to stream and watch immediately. For some people it can take a couple of hours for the movie to load fully, and while thats ok if you have a planned movie night, how about if you and your friends just came from a game of COD4 and one of them says "Hey lets watch a movie!"...You cant exactly do spur of the moment movie watching :(

Edit: Not to mention many people have monthly download caps.

Funny cause if you and your friends just came out of a game of COD4, then you already have high spead internet. And Netflix doesn't download the whole movie before you play it. You start watching in almost to minutes. Does watching an epic movie in SD make it anyless epic. Bluray wins in quality and producation value, but selection, and huge library its DVD and Netflix FTW. Why limit yourself?

Umm yeah since launch it upscale DVD and HD through DD, and now with Netflix but has never been marketed as a movie player. ;)

Sorry, how are we limiting ourselves if we buy hard copies again?
