IMO the reason for this s because the 3d foliage will poke you in the eye thus making you blind.

Also for children under six the parents can input a Pin number so it will disable the 3D effect until they grow up and then the parents can input the Pin number the bring back the 3D effect.Not. And you can still disable the 3D effect on the 3DS.

Every product has product use warnings. The batteries in your game controllers have warnings about their potential to explode.
Besides, even if the 3D is harmful, you can turn it off.

Thats great, but do you seriously think thats good enough? I mean games have big "M" warnings on them and most parents are still too ignorant and get them for children, putting a pin into a 3DS sounds like its beyond most people. I will be getting it but likely never use the 3D.. I watched a 3DTV preview once for like 5 minutes and had a headache for like an hour, I'm mostly okay in theatres, screen is pretty far, still get minor headaches, upclose 3D is not cool..[QUOTE="nameless12345"]

Eventually people will get so sick of the 3D that they will just always play with it off, essentialy making it a $300 DS

▲ So then what's the point in having it if it's not mandatory? If it's not used as an integral part of the game, it's just a shameful gimmick. A gimmick that has apparant health issues it seems. ▲

The people that will be buying the 3DS won't just be about the 3D, but about games. Plus there's no real proof that this handheld will cost $300 over here in the states.

▲ Games they've most likely already played? The best and most games announced for the thing are remakes. Nintendo isint even trying anymore it seems. ▲

My 2 most anticipated games at the moment are for the 3DS, Layton vs Wright and Megaman Legends 3, neither are remakes.Even worse...a PSP....lol.Eventually people will get so sick of the 3D that they will just always play with it off, essentialy making it a $300 DS

Funny how when Nintendo releases a huge amount of ports AND has an analog nub it's okay. Things DS fans berated the PSP for having. Just sayin...Eventually people will get so sick of the 3D that they will just always play with it off, essentialy making it a $300 DS

Expect it will have a virtual console, features that aren't on any current DS, and much more powerful hardware that is a major step up from the current DS' specs.
Honestly, when will people finally get the message that this is the successor to the current DS line and not just another hardware revision?
The 3DS is equivalent to what the GBA was to the 8-bit Game Boy line.

Not all of them are ports &/or remakes.
lol no. Anyone who was around when the Virtual Boy was launching should be capable of understanding that they're not remotely comparable.
Isn't it possible to turn the 3D off on the 3DS? Also you aren't wearing goggles with the screen essentially an inch from your eyes. Which is probably what caused the headaches.

Not sure if serious.Since gaming press has had their hands on it, and say it work its bound to be better.
I had the virtual boy. Was my first console. Had it for a week, then had it traded in for a SNES.
Words can't properly escribe how bad the VB was. Words can't describe......

Just sayin...ThePlotholeI don't berate the PSP for having an analog nub. I berate it for having a poorly designed analog nub. And what are these HUGE amounts of ports? Most of the games that have been announced aren't ports.
apparently 2 remakes = a bunch of ports
1 theres a switch to turn off 3d and play like normal ,
2 -- with awsome games like zelda saints row driver mgs etc i dont think so
remember virtual boy wasnt really 3d , it was red and black
and had no g ood games and wasnt even portable lol ,
so saying 3ds is the next portable is really underestimating nintendo , ,

lol my first game console was an Atari 2600 and I thought it sucked, but man do I feel bad for you.
Had the Virtual Boy been my first console I probably wouldnt be gaming today. At least you traded the worst system of all time for quite possibly the best system of all time.
My only concern is the price point, hopefully Nintendo doesn't bring this thing to the U.S. at 300 dollars.. Hopefully it releases at 249 at the highest point.
I pretty much totally agree with this.Every product has product use warnings. The batteries in your game controllers have warnings about their potential to explode.

MetroidPrimePwn
No it won't.
I honestly believe that 3D will be the next big thing.
I look forward to seeing MS and Sony implementing it into their systems.
nintendo just said those things because at some point someone will get a headache for overdoing it and try to sue nintendo, which will counter with "but i warned ya".
it's like thinking starbucks is doomed because their cups have a "hot coffee is hot" warning.
RED ALARM!!!!! :oUnlikely.
The 3DS has games to back up its headache inducing gimmick. The virtual boy didn't.
davidkamayor
Everything has warnings.
and now but not least, another product just like every other product in the world, has a warning.
As you can see, unless you are one of those few people out there who cant see 3D or who have experinced head aches after watching 3D, the warning found on the 3DS shoud be taken with a grain of salt.
Also, another selling point for the 3DS, the 3D can be tuned of ;)
