Nintendo's Satoru Iwata has said that the 3DS XL will be the last hardware revision for the handheld because he doesn't want to confuse consumers with multiple 3DS models

I believe them. Just like there was supposed to be no 3DS XL, I am sure there will be no other 3DS models after this. I believe you, Nintendo.

Sure...I could see 1 more revision with the CCP built in, maybe the 3DS pro?

i believe it because the DS only had so many versions because it had that awkward DS phat. I don't see where they can take the 3DS from the 3DS XL. Maybe a version with more battery power, but I don't think that counts as a new version.

I suppose it'd be best if we didn't have the 3DSi XLite Advance SP Micro.
That said, it's going to happen.

The last time something like this was said, the 3DS XL was announced less than two weeks later so...

3DS with second stick getting announced in July :OOO

Slashkice

But when was the first time something like this was said? :o

People aren't intepretating things correctly.

When Miyamoto said he thought the current "design" of the 3DS was perfect that doesn't mean he wasn't saying there wouldn't be a 3DS XL

The 3DS XL retains the original design of the 3DS, i.e. one circle pad only two shoulder buttons. Etc. He was telling you the design of the 3DS wouldn't change in remodels.

They're being dumb and stubborn... the extend to new games with dual analogs for the 3DS would skyrocket.

So how would you build the ZL/ZR buttons into something the 3DS's size? The Circle Pad Pro isn't just an extra Circle Pad.

This is a tough call to make right now. We'll see how the landscape changes in 2 years, whether it's needed or not.

3DS HW is perfect now with XL. The only thing they could do now is to add new functionality, basically 3DSi. Since by that time 3DS has been out for 4 years, it would be stupid to include a second slide pad that close to 3DS' successor so if there is anything you can definitively say is no 2nd slide pad this handheld gen.

putting in a second analog is no simple matter. It is a huge slap in the face to everyone who bought one already. It's not a decision to be made lightly, and the longer we go without one, the less likely it is that we will get one in the future.

No built-in 2nd analog revision is a mistake, gives 3rd parties an out in not developing games for the circle pad.

I think the fact that they didn't incorporate 2 analogs confirms that the CCP only existed because of Monster Hunter. They didn't want the 3DS to be a 2-analog machine and I can't blame them.

Sure. They know it would invite console-friendly genres and that's not what their handhelds have been about. The touchscreen puts it just past the PSP's awkwardness, but short of the Vita's console controller parity. It seems like an arbitrary restriction, but I think they might have hit a sweet spot.

I guess. I mean, I like that they are at least offering an option for dual analog, but at the same time, I'd say that the power of the system already restricts any third party that wanted to put a console game onto the system, and that limiting the control scheme in that way was unnecessary.

That is grand, so it is the system to get for sure

Huge screens, better quality and 3D, not much bigger in size than 3DS and 4GB card included, plus DS games look far better

Better battery life too, it is incredible

Nintendo's Satoru Iwata has said that the 3DS XL will be the last hardware revision for the handheld because he doesn't want to confuse consumers with multiple 3DS models

http://www.gamespot.com/news/more-3ds-models-would-confuse-gamers-says-nintendo-6384793

Nintendo said that?! Well, it must be true.

Either that or they are saying this, trying to sell 3DS and 3DS XL hardware!

Why would they, a business, want to lie to us to make money?

If Nintendo's going to lie to my face, I would prefer if they sent Mr. Miyamoto again...that was CIassic! :P

I can defend the original hardware for lacking a second analog. However, when it is clear that second one was needed, and when Nintendo has even had to release an add on to rectify the problem, I would expect there to be one in the revision, and find its omission to be, frankly, inexcusably baffling.

You do know that the second stick will alienate previous 3DS owners? Encourage devs to make more console ports and games that don't use the 3DS' unique features? Gyroscope and touch screen will be ignored?
