The Amazing Spiderman - a movie game that doesn't ****

This one snuck by me at E3, but having watched the trailer up top, it actually looks decent. The camera is more like GTA, as are the graphics (not too far off anyway). It looks more like Grand Theft Auto: Spiderman than a crappy film tie-in, but only time will tell.

I particularly like how it finally has a proper free-running mechanic. It looks like a fun game just to toy around with in Manhattan, outside of whatever the mission structure is.

Ultimate Spiderman was the last one I liked, The swinging was fun, but being Venom was the best part. Hell I remember playing the old PS1 spiderman. I really hop they pull this off, it looks great so far. dare it be hyped as Marvel's Arkham?

They are getting close to making an Arkham City for Spiderman. It's not there but it's close.

Some of his animations look terrible -- and while the camera that close up does make for a more cinematic swinging experience(looks awesome), it's still a little too close. I'm not too fond of how the web rush pauses time either(at least slow down time to make it more challenging). Combat looks pretty fun though -- this game does have potential.

But I really wish they would hurry up and make a sequel to Ultimate Spider-Man -- I felt the first one did nearly everything right. I doubt this one will top that as the best SM game ever overall.

Loved Spiderman 2 the game, this one looked promising at first, but I don't think it's going to be any good. I hope I'm wrong though!

Well, it definitely looks alot better than most, I'll give it that. Wonder if angryjoe will review this. Aside from his gimmicks, he kills me when it comes to these licensed games.

I'll wait. It looks slightly better than most recent Spidey titles but that isn't saying much.

That looks pretty good, man. Could be the Spiderman 2 of this generation.

Looks decent, but it almost looks like Spider-Man isn't connecting his web shots to buildings when he swings. He just kind of shoots up in the air. Anyway, It'd be kind of cool if you now had a limited supply of webbing considering how Spider-Man now uses web shooters. I remember liking the feature in Spider-Man (2000).

I think if they were givien more time a great spidy game can be made with this one. Since these are the guys who made shattered dimensions which was great.

Rocksteady Studios belongs to Warner Brothers who who DC Comics, right? They could never make a Spiderman game.

I hope you're right TC. Spiderman 2 was a lot of fun. The video looked good, especially the web swinging.

It looks good but I don't liked swinging from a glass ceiling in the sky rather than buildings.

I think they should implement something like Just Cause 2's Grappling hook for web swinging, now that would be fun.

Web Rush.... Seems questionable. The traversal is supposed to be the primary source of entertainment in a game like this right? And they've built a system which skips all that for you by automatically taking you where you point. If it is what it looks like then allow me to roll my eyes at the guy saying it enhances the interactivity of the environment.McStrongfast

lol! Well it does doesn't it?... I just think maybe they should've added a requirement for it. Like, maybe like put 3 or 4 web rush coins around the far corners of the map -- then when you reach one one(having the option to stack but no more than a certain number at once) only then should you be able to use it which would probably make people think twice on when and where they would use it(let alone the number of times ) instead of just spamming it.

I hope it's at a 7.5 Spiderman games haven't been good of late.
