Is this box-art official for US MGSIV?

Yeah, the "Dissolve" pwns. I just noticed yesterday that the small pieces were items and characters from previous Metal Gear games and MGS4Lab392
oh wow they are!
thats not the cover art for MGS...they choice the terminator eye one.../which I hated/
I have always liked the box are to the KOTOR games and I really liked MGS3s box art (even though I'm not a huge fan of the games)

So why was everyone saying it was good boxart? If the little pieces were not symbolic, it would have been pure rubbish. Like some Andy Warhol piece or something.[QUOTE="Koalakommander"][QUOTE="Lab392"]Yeah, the "Dissolve" pwns. Hehe good on ya ^^. The thing is, the essence of the boxart is doubled if not trebled since those pieces actually have meaning. Without them, Snake's stance and his 'dissolve' has some questions swept under the rug.I saw the official boxart. Now that's a Warhol masterpiece :?FrozenLiquidYet you think this is better? :?

what? less is more in this case. it doesn't need flashy in-your-face graphics to woo people. I like the simplicity of it.
What does it tell you? What is the message? Of course it doesn't need anything flashy, but what does a red eye on the face of an old man have to do anything with the themes in MGS IV? At least this one is an introspective look at the struggle of Solid Snake. What's that one? Perhaps you could extrapolate it's the fusion of man and machine. But is that the most important idea in Guns of the Patriots?Yup. It tells you quite a lot. Look at Darth Malak. He's imposing, he's villainous. It already tells you that he's an important character in the story, and most definitely has a lot of influence in it. Look at Bastila. She's much smaller in the picture, but look at her posture. It's not intimidating, and it looks almost angelic. She's obviously going to aid the good side in the fight against Malak. The other characters are of lesser importance, which is described through their inferior appearance on this boxart, but it shows that they too have a significant part to play in the conflict. The ships and the figures in the background tell us this is an inter-galactic struggle of such magnitude and scale. So yeah, if you can tell me why Solid Snake posing as the terminator is more explanatory than this piece, I'll stand corrected. I think this idea of MGS IV having great boxart is the same problem the lemmings had with Halo 3's boxart. Just because it's popular, it could definitely be one of the best ever.Yet you think this is better? (pic)

In my opinion, the Subsistence box art is the best box art ever made, besides the original Mega Man box art.

Why does everyone like him? Sure he was funny sometimes, but Jolee was a billion times better than him.I understand what you're saying, but it's just as good as this oneIn my opinion, the Subsistence box art is the best box art ever made, besides the original Mega Man box art.

It almost looks like you're looking at his face through an LCD screen. a battered, worn out LCD screen with a poor signal. I think this has something to do with information. monitoring, accuracy, ect, and snake is in the center of it all. he's on a battlefield, this is like a final visual feed from a damaged machine. the MK II drone, or maybe one of those unmanned Gekko weapons? maybe the seemingly obsolete presentation (grainy, crude) is a connection or reference to the old NES game, the beginning of the series.
maybe.

Why does everyone like him? Sure he was funny sometimes, but Jolee was a billion times better than him. Just the way he acted. He was emotionless but full of emotion at the same time. One of the best uses of black humour ever put into a video game character. Obsidian destroyed it though. They decided to overstuff the idea with multiple assassination droids. Not cool Obsidian, not cool.[QUOTE="yellowandmushy"][QUOTE="Juggernaut140"][QUOTE="yellowandmushy"]Yet you think this is better? :?[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]I saw the official boxart. Perhaps. But that's what I was alluding to before. It seems to be the idea of technology or something. I thought maybe it could have hinted at those new Metal Gear machines but that's a far out assumption with no support to back it up. It doesn't give off minimalist vibes like the Halo 3 picture, as it is a closeup and Snake has his poker face on. But the feeling I'm getting is that it's just there to sell the product, like Halo 3's boxart. I wonder why Snake is touching is face though. At least they made a better game.yellowandmushyYeah I personally like it more than the original. However, the pacing is way off in the second one. And Kreia's character becomes rather hollow in the end. Oh, and the original's twist is definitely one for the history books. I still cannot get over the fact that Bioware was so cunning to put such a twist in the franchise which has the biggest twist in history.

to me, the boxart is the exact opposite of anything that would scream out: "Hey you! Look at me! I'm an action game! Buy me! Buy me!" :P
I don't see why the H3 cover is more minimalist. As for snake touching his face, I think that is him turning on the solid eye device. in cutscenes, he's shown switching some button on it to activate it.

Everytime someone tells me Star Wars sucks they will always bring that up. It's just like "Dude, you're an effin' genius bra". Though I must say, if you were born in the late 80s and beyond, you probably could figure it out (maybe). Why? Because everything else has tried to rip off the twist in some way or another. Just like in the future, when our kids watch The Matrix, when the bullet time sequence comes, they'll say "Ha! I knew it was coming!".
