The Best FPS single player level.

Well I just want to know what is the best FPS campaign level you guys have ever played. I put some of my favorites on the poll to see if you guys agree and see which one you guys like best.

Ravenholm: Many zombies, very small supply of ammo and forces you to use gravity gun a lot, freaky atmosphere, the crazy priest (Father Grigori I think it was), crazy zombie killing traps, the saw blade (nuff said).

The Maw: Explosions, The flood, the forerunners (sentinels), and covenant battling each other everywhere, great driving sequence at the end.

Crossroads: Lots and lots of shooting, many bodies flying, planes flying into buildings, large and great looking level

Cliff: Hang-Gliding and shooting at the same time, Zip lining, Sniping, Jet skiing down an enemy infested river, ATV-ing while helicopters are blowing everything around you apart, Discovering your Fast Animal Running, Running after scared mercs and killing them one by one (starting with the stragler).

Other: One that you think is the best level in an FPS singleplayer (try to explain why....also make sure it's a FIRST person shooter...not THIRD)

The intro to Half Life 2, the first level in general was my favorite of any PC game, only rivaled to Halo's island level, (the fourth mission, I can't remember it's been too long.) :P

The Snow Level in Halo 1. Where you first get the tank. BlueBarad

I think it's called assault on the control room and it gets my vote also.

but prime isnt a fps per se.

So was "Follow Freeman". Man that level had some serious gun battles and some intense shootouts with gunships and striders....OH man the striders.

Lol. I died like 50 times on that level. I couldn't figure out where to go, and the striders owned me. I liked the boat sequence. Bst Vehicle mode EVER 

Out of that list I'd say Ravenholm. It scared the crap out of me.

I enjoyed Follow Freeman more though. That had the best action in the entire game.

The Library from Combat Evolved. Insanity for about 30-45 minutes.Bansheesdie

The shooting was fun. But the level just got too repetitive.

Caen in Call of Duty 2.

 me and my friend were amazed by the repetitiveness of some parts of halo1

Agreed, but if you have time to look around then your doing something wrong. Or your dead. And die you will.

The Library is probably the hardest level ever made when played on Legendary. I spent 20 minutes moving a total of 50ft.

Sanctuary Fortress from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (even though it's really not a FPS).

That whole game is amazing. I remeber playing that lvl with the tank and then the first snow lvl dozens and dozens of times.

for consoles the silent cartagrapher on halo on legendary. its just fun. I don't typlically play single player FPS on PC.

Is the last level in halo:CE called the maw(its been a while since I played halo). If it is then that gets my vote. THe ending sequence when ur driving away was just so much fun. hoping halo 3 has something similar.MR_SMI13Y

Yeah, thats Maw. And this will please you, there will be a driving level near the end of Halo 3. Below is from this weeks Bungie Weekly Update.

"In September. But we've been playing all the way through the game for weeks now. Our favorite level at the moment (and it changes week by week) is the challenge presented by the very last level. Now the thing that sucks for us, is that we'll never be able to experience the game properly. It's just not practical or possible for us to sequester ourselves away from the Campaign game. We have to play it. But it's hardly torture either. And we can't tell you anything else about it.

Joe and I were taking turns at a driving challenge somewhere else in the game, created by Dan Miller, one of our Campaign designers. Now being backseat drivers AND backseat game designers, we gave him loads of awesome feedback. We can only imagine how grateful he was for it. In a very real way, he's lucky to have us.

Speaking of driving, I was trying a speed run on one of my other favorite levels (earlier one) which has a spot you're technically not supposed to get a vehicle across. This was slowing me down and cramping my sty1e so I used my top-secret new vehicle to nudge some bits of debris around to make a ramp. Massive justice! Leap achieved. When I reported this to that level's designer, Chris, he was all, "Well dur, how come it took you a year to figure that out?"

Sketch and Luke, meanwhile, have been trying out Legendary. Sketch was playing through the first level, while Luke tried one of the middle ones. "Jackals are jerks!" and "Even Lee can't throw a plasma that accurately!" are the yells coming from their monkeypit."
