Well. Congratulations, you are aware even a slight bump in real racing tends to take both racers out of the competition?

And there are features such as suspension, wheels and grips. Please don't bash a game without first finding out about it :)

If you are talking about Forza 2 - it happens if youare inside the turn on the limit of grip. Same as reality, even slight collision in this case will lead out of the road. On straight line story is different.

Forza 2 has best collisions ever made in racing games, not "damage"
