The Best Zombie Game This Year Coming To PC - Hint, It's Not TLOU.

INB4 - 360 loses another exclusive. :P

Anyhoo, this as an MMO could work well me thinks and also they need to add some co-op, this game screams for it.

XBLA champion State of Decay out on PC this year

Undead Labs teases sandbox future.

State of Decay, the terrifyingly successful open-world Xbox Live Arcade zombie game, will be released on PC before the year is out.

Undead Labs boss Jeff Strain shared the news in a livestream yesterday - points summarised on the game's forum.

Ah, he's happy.

The PC version will have enhanced graphics, higher resolutions and an improved framerate. "The PC version will not have different content or features, however," wrote the studio's communicator, Sanya Weathers. Is she ruling out co-op?

There won't be official modding tools but Undead Labs has "no objection to mods or modders" and is looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

A controller-only PC version of State of Decay will be available early through Steam's Early Access program for the sake of gathering feedback. Naturally, the final PC game will have keyboard and mouse support.

Full patch notes for the upcoming Title Update 3 on Xbox Live will be available this week, apparently. That update will allow you to take NPCs on missions with you.

The studio also teased the sandbox future of State of Decay - Jeff Strain outlining the goal as a world with no finish but finite resources or, in other words, a game of "'how long can I stay alive?'".

"Without going into too much detail," added Sanya Weathers, "you start in the world, build your community, clean the valley out - and when it runs dry, you can leave with some portion of your community and go to 'the next valley'. The next valley is the same map repopulated with resources...but harder. More zombies. More difficulty. Just...more."

She said more details are coming within a week.

She also reiterated what we'd heard before about the future of the State of Decay series: "The future of the SOD world is under active discussion with our publisher [Microsoft Studios], but we can't say anything beyond that."

In other words, the intended MMO follow-up to State of Decay, codenamed Class4, isn't a done deal just yet.

State pf Decay wasn´t xbox exclusive since it was announced. The developers stated from the start that the platforms would be PC Xbox.

From a technical standpoint, yes. However, alot see the announcement of another platform as it being a "non exclusive".

TLOU didn't have zombies...

Lol these people saying TLOU isn't a zombie game. No 'Zombie' game has actual zombies in it anymore, there is always some different name given to them. Let me knew the difference between a runner in TLOU and a infected in L4D2/Dead Island or whatever. Both of those games have tougher versions of the zombies synonamous to the clickers in TLOU. 

I'm curious about State of Decay and will probably pick it up but doubt it will surplant Dayz as the best zombie sandbox multiplayer game on the platform.

Hell if anything I am happy it is buggy with those scores, because those were the main concerns with the game.. Bugs can squashed, if not by the devs, then by the modders.. So I am happy to see this game coming to the pc.

it's sad that lemmings have to play that game while we have TLOU.

No, they were developing the XBLA version, and some time into it's development cycle, they approached MS about releasing it on Steam, which MS had no objection to. Splitting hairs though, it doesn't really matter when it lost it's "exclusivity" status.

Great game, really different from most of the fluff out there. Might buy again on PC.

You do realize that being open world doesnt automatically make a game better right? SOmetimes having some focus and linearity is important to get the story going. Its certainly necessary for a game like TLOU which is more about human interaction than just blowing stuff up.II_Seraphim_II

The open world in SoD is paramount to how the game plays. It's a cornerstone, otherwise it'd be just another derivative corridor action game thing.
