The Call of Duty franchise deserves some respect

Man all i see in this forum is hate towards call of duty. you admit you enjoyed it then now you're here turning your back on it. Come on now.... call of duty was barebone up until #4. If # 5 continued with no perks..... it wouldn't be as popular as it is now. people would've called it the same damn game and it would have taken a nose dive. MW2 brought something new to the table with its perks and killstreaks. Hey black ops continued the same path but brought in new / interesting perks and made it more balanced. Today we still see a bunch of babies crying over it being the same game every year blah blah blah. hey how about you guys name an FPS that you like on a console that is still fun and played by many online today? Is it crysis 2? Sheesh hate the fanboys don't hate the developers.

Although I do agree with you on some points, the game just plays and feels like the same thing. Lets see. Black OPS just changed a few minor balance issues that IW could have just patched in for MW2. Treyarch is just the copycat developer that hardly ever brings anything original in to their games.

I still like and play cod4.

I actually bought MW2 and I did not like it, nor did I play it past 2-3 weeks of buying it.

I can hate on games I don't like. :D

I have to agree, the early ones redefined cinematic WWII games and CoD4 was probably the biggest thing this entire generation for what it popularized and introduced. So I do think the hate on the CoD franchise is incredibly juvenile and unnecessary considering all that.

I agree. As much as people despise it, it is a huge part of this generation.

CoD deserves respect for CoD4. Past that i don't really care.

In my opinion it gets way too much respect. If Activsion teuely wants to show the quality of these games they better let the reviewers tell the truth instead of buying them off by bringing them to a resort.

Maybe the series does up till CoD4 but the recent ones hell no. I gave the series a chance with Black Ops and boy was it pretty disappointing. Not going to bother with the series anymore outside of rentels.

I don't know why people say that COD 4 is good, and MW2 bad. They're the same **** MW2 has commando, IWNET, but its the same thing, the same unbalanced experiencie, the same overpowered tubes, bad respawn (altought mw2 improved on this, COD 4 still the worst respawn system on fps history) and a killstreak system that rewards and encourages camping. COD 4 was not a masterpiece, it was the start of the downfall.

MW had a vastly superior campaign. Seriously I've played through it like 10 times... MW2's had rare moments of greatness but for the most part it was nothing special.

Oh so i should hate on the fanboys for it being the same game over and over? It's the developers re-using the same formula. COD4 was fun because it was fresh. COD: world at war came out and it was nothing more than a forgetable experience. MW2 came out and it played like a terribly unbalanced version of COD4. Black Ops came out and.... well it tried REALLY hard to be like MW2. The COD franchise deserves respect..... respect for what???

I'm sure Activision is fine with just getting money.

no they dont deserver any respect for trying to sell me the same thing over and over, if you have a good franchise you actually put effort in it, but they waste time trying to squeeze the people even more with stuff like cod "elite" instead of trying to improve the games and not doing mw 2.1

I don't know, when I used play MW1/MW2 to relax and see a major TUBEFEST going everywhere, I realize that the developers are the worst multiplayer designers ever.

Infinity Ward sucks. The most lazy developer ever, lack of support, on MW2 the OMA problem never got solved, IWNET with rampant hacking, both on MW1 and MW2 the multiplayer was broken like hell.

Black Ops has its share of balance problems but overall was WAY better balanced and fair. And at least treyarch tries to fix the problems, unlike IW.

so, back on topic.. i'm done with cod.. I would give MW3 a shot because of raven involvement on the mp part, but sadly IW is also developing and it won't feature deds probably. If they are actually considering the idea of still using IWNET after everything that happened on MW2 ( everybody that play on PC knows what 'im talking about), its enough reason for me not giving my money for IW/Activision again.

I used to respect it back in 2005. Now, not anymore.

Coming from someone with an Assassin's Creed avatar, I find this laughable...

Its funny that people hate COD for being popular but you can slowly start to see that its reversing again. The hate is now the trend to hate! If that makes sense lol biggest_loser

And why is that? ACII made some very good improvements, changes, additions that fix most of the problems in the first and Brotherhood added even more in SP along with recruiting people to become assassins and having multiplayer. Revelations, well who knows, but I doubt it will make as big as a leap then the others.

I agree with you. The games may not be groundbreaking, or the most polished FPS's around, but barring Call of Duty 3 and Modern Warfare 2, they remain consistently well made and fun to play, and that, above all, is what really matters.charizard1605

Pretty sure most of the criticism the COD series gets is because of those two games you mentioned + black ops. When people hate on the COD franchise, you don't see people bashing COD or COD2. It basically starts with MW2.

I don't hate any of the games, except Black Ops. I cannot stand that game. Cod 1 and 2 were great games. CoD 3 was okay. CoD4 was amazing. WaW was great. MW2 was ok playing public matches, but once you got into Game Battles and stuff like that it was really fun. Black Ops however is just boring IMO. Treyarch took out drop shots, and replaced it with the stupid dolphin dive. CoD points was a great idea but executed horribly. They should have made everything cost more. By the time you're level 30 you honestly have enough to buy every single thing in that game. Treyarch thought that by letting killstreaks not add up people would stop camping, but no, people camp more than ever. Every time I go on Black Ops I just can't have any fun.

COD 1-4, but after MW2 COD lost my respect and BO didn't do anything for me to have faith in the series again.
