The car analogy

Almost, in every list of threads or posts...i see people making comparisons and conclusions based on a car analogy....

such as:

Wii = Honda

Ps3 = BMW

I dont get it; it doesnt make sense!!

The wii is not in the same league as the PS3 and the 360....its geared to a broader audience and is packed with new, unusual ideas ment to increase interactivity, and create new/interesting/fun experiences, period. Whether it does it now or will do it in the future is a matter of speculation.

For its size the wii is packed with high tech hardware. It has a unique disc slot, is quite and power efficient and contains more powerful hardware than the xbox (maybe not alot) in a space of less than 1/4 of the xbox.

It is the first serious console to fully focus and implement motion detecting into gaming...the first!

Also, just compare the old GC interface to the Wii's interface and wifi capabilities... 

All this in a slick little device the size of my external harddrive at home

all this in mind, i would like to make my own analogy...

The Wii:

NO. The PS3 is like this

The first one is expensive as heck but has lots of racing and comfort technologies built in. The second image is much cheaper, keeps things simple and is still a heck of a lot of fun to drive around. 

its tempting...i'd go for a bugatti veyron as the 360? white and green obviously.

I think the wii would be some bizzare japanese hybrid that didnt have a steering wheel or pedels.

the ps3 would be a monster truck (very powerful, but pretty useless until they make roads big enough for it).

No, a Wii is a Ford Focus with a Hybrid Engine. You can call the Hybrid design a gimmick or innovation, that is up to you.

PS3: Any luxury car that advances from the old to better.

Wii: Same 'ol with additional hybrid design integrated.

XBOX 360: Muscle cars : ) Loud and hot.

basically, the reasons that you stated the example anology is incorrect, are why it is correct. A Honda and a BMW are aimed at different markets, yet still "compete" on the grounds that they get you from point A to point B. A bimmer has all the options you could ever need, like ps3, while a Honda is low priced, yet full of technology that makes it efficient and useful. whoisryanmack

Wii: nice motorcycle

          Motorcycles have a different price range form cars. The feeling of riding one is different from a car; wind in face, speed...much more fun (opinion). They are smaller...but that doesnt mean they are low tech...

PS3: nice car

          Cars are great...generally have more power and are faster. They can do much more things with media...car stereo...sound...tvs...radio...heat.

because they are in different price ranges and are different types of transportion, each with different things to offer, someone who want both experiences will buy a nice car and a nice motorcycle, hence PCWii...PSWii...360wii

PS 3 = Toyota FT-HS Concept Hybrid sports car. looks nice, both promise high performance, doubtful whether they'll fully deliver.

Wii = Vespa. in a league all it's own. not made for looks or performance and if you own one, people will think you're poor.

It's easy to use cars to compare (as I obviously did in a previous post you are somewhat referrencing) because they compete on many levels. THey have different types, price levels and so forth, kidna like how the current consoles do the same.

The funny thing about calling the Wii a motorcycle, is that most motorcycles may numerically be "less powerful" than cars, but are in fact much zipier. 2 or 3x the horsepower doesn't make up for 5-10x the weight. As anybody who has rode a 'cycle knows, the reduced weight makes them much zipier.

Anyway, calling the Wii a Scion and the 360/PS3 a Toyota/Honda (interchangeably) would be more apt if people demand an automobile analogy.cootery
