Will the PS4 use an upgraded version of the power cell processor, or will they look to go in a new direction? Sony continues to push innovation in each console with the emotion engine in the PS2, and now the Cell in the PS3, but unfortunately inexperienced developers had a hard time harnessing the Cell to make it run games smoothly. Now since developers have a grip on the cell and it's advanced architecture, will Sony decide to keep the Cell and just give it a slight power boost?

Didn't they say they were going to ditch it?

They're supposedly going with an AMD x86 based CPU.

You can post, just can't create a topic.

Do you believe we are even ready for the PS4? I mean the cell still has a lot of untapped potential, and I would rather see the Xbox 720 come out before the market is ready, fail; then allow for the PS4 to come out in 2-3 years when the cell is finally outdated, and then finally dominate the gaming market again.

Cell has no untapped potential at all.

Its pretty much maxed out and the processor itself is bottlenecked by the RAM and the GPU.

Yes. Consoles have pretty much tapped out at this point. We're seeing massive sacrifices to things such as FPS in order for more effects etc. This could somehwta be to poor developers, but we're just not seeing the advancements anymore. The Cell isn't some magic processor, unfortunately.
