Not this again. :? There was a huge thread just earlier today about this.EntwineX
This shows that Larabee could turn out to be really interesting. In this test the Cell is better than the G80 but in some others tests the G80 would own the Cell so bad it wouldn't even be funny. I really want to see how GPGPU turns out.

Cell seems to be faster at doing some things
Thoughts?

You mean the Cell is better at applications that are not related to gaming? Cool. So...why is it in the PS3 again?

Why don't you check before posting this stuff?
Lol at you TC. The 8800 Ultra (in) SLI would ram the shatty cell into the ground then spit on it.

BTW just remember that the Cell gets owned in portein folding by the X1900XT, so you could imagine how it would do against the G80.
And yet it has now been stated twice by crtek that the best looking game shown so far ( by a long way) is not possible in its current form on the 360 or ps3.........and yet 8800's can run it maxed out at resolutionsabove 720p.

Yeah but isn't the Cell a CPU and the 8800 a GPU?
That is like comparing water and bread and then saying bread fills you up more.
Mabe I am missing something but at a glance that is what it seems like.
[QUOTE="anshul89"]??? It's coming to 360.
:lol:
Even World in Conflict wont run properly on a console. Even with medium settings @ 1680x1050 the game looks fantastic.rexoverbey
The difference is, the 8800 is backed by 2-4 GB's of RAM faster than the 360's and ALOT lower Timings than the PS3's (Thats important) .... then by either 2 or 4 Cores that have much more L Cache & Architecture than the Console's counter-part (Well except the CEll I guess) ....
4000 RAM + 320/640/720 VRAM .... you work out the difference, and know exactly why you will never see a console game as large-scale as crysis with its obosultely floorlessley sharp textures, and why the PS3/360 versions of UT3's Texture resolution is cut in more than Half of the PC version.
I guess the Cell is pretty potent when performing ray-tracing stuff. What does this mean? It can do a lot of math. How will this be incorperated into our games? C'mon! Let's jump into the time rift, woohoo!JLuke360Well.. Ray tracing is the biggest leap graphics in games can take in terms of realism.. as of now.. If this would be implented in PS3 games the games would look amazing if done correctly.. But then again, there is no way a console of this gen will be able too implent ray tracing in gameplay... The Cell would have too be so overclocked that it would be more radiant then a thousand suns.

But you have to admit, there are jaggies everywhere ... watch any cut scene and you will see them rampent in the characters... for such a high budget game ... thats pretty bad :S

That is one of the biggest myths lair and heavenly sword look better, Gears of war while it looks good is no where near close looks to realistic, the colors are drab and very uninspiring
