Which would you say changed more?
Imo Halo hasn't changed much at all.
You look at Halo and it's like "Yup that's Halo alright pure Vanilla ice."
While MGS changed alot.

As a Fan of MGS1 I have to agree with you.
Ever since Raiden with MGS2 and MGS3 the series has been on a downward Sprial IMO...
I hope at least MGS4 can match up to MGS1.
I didnt' mind Raiden. It was a ballsy move but it worked.
Halo hasn't changed for the better.

Even though I havent played halo 3, i agree on the mgs thing, im getting a bit worried with it that its becoming too westernized and is just gonna remind me of a tom clancy game or something.

Big bosses clones weren't made to last ;) snakes old for a reason, they were made as experimental weapons (fox soldier program) to be used as basically a clone army of super soldiers (basically what the genome army was meant to be), basically super cheap cannon fodder.

Nothing about MGS3 was western or tom clancy-ish. Snake is still fighting supernatural enemies. I mean liquid is inside ocelots body..MG has never been stranger. lol.

you still get the cardboard box, and a metal drum to hide in. you can place dirty magazines to distract foes. you can incapacitate soldiers with hits to the crotch...
Don't worry, MGS4 isn't going too far from its roots.

Nah I loved mgs3, more then most people did atleast, and I think its better gameplay-wise then mgs2, but yea, I guess the only thing more westernized is the over the shoulder view, i was glad when i saw the e for all video and they had the exclamation point still over peoples heads lol.
Well from MGS2 to MGS3 the difference was way bigger then the change from Halo 1 to Halo 3.. Same gen... omgimba

Not necessarily. I loved MGS, but they broke everything in MGS 2. That's where I fell off the bandwagon. I hated Raiden. It would be like killing Batman in the first 20 min. of the movie, and fill the rest with Robin.Which would you say changed more?
Imo Halo hasn't changed much at all.
XD88FDB
I agree with this. The reason: Halo was ahead of its time while Halo 3 is just keeping up with the times.
One thing that definitely did not change much at all are the great reviews and praise the franchise has received thoughout the years.
GameSpot Scores:
Halo 97
Halo2 94
Halo3 95
MGS 85
MGS2 96
MGS3 90
If you go by these scores, I would have to say that MGS has changed more over time. MGS fans better hope the MSG4 score is closer to the one that MSG2 received. If the upcoming game receives the same score as MSG1...then you guys are gong to have another flop on your hands.

I've played all MGS and all Halos and your wrong by a long shot
Deffinitely MGS1 to MGS4
Totally new gameplay, and ufcourse day/light graphical difference.
Gun_Haze

LOL

You know what the funny thing is, Halo is a AAA series, while MGS is not.
Oh, because not every single MGS game got AAA on this site?
Every MGS game has a ton of new stuff, MGS-Base of everything,MGS2-FPS view,Hanging,Hiding bodies,Hiding in Lockers,MGS3-Knife,Cqc,Stamina effects Big boss actions,Swimming,Eating,Patching yourself up after gunshot wounds,Poison,etc,Camoflauge system.MGS4-Metal Gear MK,Solid Eye,Octocamo,Fear system(Phyche meter),and more...
Halo-Base,Halo 2-More maps/Weapons Halo 3- Amour more maps/weapons.... -.-
All the metal gear solids are the same except enviroment same whith halo but the difference for me is halo is much more fun and fast paced where mgs is slow and boring.magnax1
lol. people with a short attention span won't like metal gear solid. the game is about the story and not so much about gameplay. that why there are about as much cutscenes as there is gameplay.
back on topic:
idk what kind of a lame comparison is this. of course mgs4 has changed more.
[QUOTE="martin_f"]Sure maybe rolling on your back and chucking grenades is not innovative, but playing as an elite is? Also, of course graphics will improve...every series does. Sure Halo 3 has new maps, but I've heard more complaints than praises, to be honest with you. New weapons for Halo 3...that's cool but how can you blindly ignore the plethera of weapons in MGS4? Forge is pretty cool, but many games have features as good if not better than that on the PC. What PC games have features similar to Forge? Most games have staight up map editors that take weeks to learn and months to build maps on, not something as simple to use and innovative as forge as limited as it may be.
I loved MGS, MGS2 not so much and loved MGS3 but the biggest change is 3> 4 I mean wtf snake is old? not ****c gameplay, rolling on your back and chucking grenades is considered a innovative feature W..T..F???
Whereas Halo has gone from chunky graphics to smoother and new maps and new guns and playing as an elite in SP and Forge and Theater and Multiplayer online...white_sox
The only reason that MGS has changed so much is because 3 and even 2 were behind the times. All of them besides the original really are AA games but fanboys usually review MGS games so they get over rated.SuperVegeta518
are you kiddin me?
mgs2 was "behind the times?"
remember if it aint broke, dont fix ;) Halo stayed true to the Halo World.....it plays and feels same as previous games because it has tested and great formula and for MGS....i never played any so cant say much about it other then MGS4 has weird gameplay
mingo123
funny how gamespot thought that was a bad thing when it came to MP3...

agreed, theres nothin really like forge on the pc, atleast to my knowledge
sure pc games have map editors where u can make the changes then load up the map and play but can u do that in real time such has halo 3 has done?
hell u can start up a game of forge and be editing stuff on the fly then jump back in and play, u can play in teams where one person is editing stuff and throwing u items to use while the other is doing the fighting, forge has more depth than ppl give it credit. for those who know nothing about it think its just a map editor

Forge is a waste of time, just hope online and shoot people. MODS,Map editors, etc> FORGE.
Halo2s big innovation was duel weilding, the series is a joke. I thought 360 had orange box, thats you guys should be playing now.
Dumb topic. Of course MGS has changed more it went from starting on the PS1 toabout ten years later on the PS3. A better comparison would be MGS2 to MGS4 and Halo 1 to Halo 3.
Halo1 to 2 - downhill like a landslide. Halo2 to 3 - no change.
MGS1-4. Seem to be going even crazier with the story each time but the gameplay and technicals improve a lot each time also.

Thats a nice excuse for the blatant lack of innovation and changes. OMG Halo 3 has deployable shields!
