One of the main issues i have with pc gaming aside from disgusting rampant piracy and utter inconvenience it poses is that its flawed from the very concept itself, computers are tools built to work, program, store and organize data, not for gaming purposes unlike gaming dedicated consoles. Computers, modern at least, are design to fit on a desk and to be utilized as working tools, whereas consoles are now designed as an entertainment center for the peoples rooms or the living room, you buy it, plug it and then play with it, you dont have to bother building a console from scratch whenever its obsolete, same goes for working computers, you ditch the old hardware to make room for the new one and voila.

The concept of people using computers as their main gaming device is extremely flawed, thats the reason why rampant piracy is ever on the rise, once people go through all the hassle that comes from building a gaming dedicated pc they get a feeling of entitlement that makes them get the games they want illegally if necessary, thats the reason why Japanese game companies simply dont bother releasing their games on PCs because they understand that the logical place for video games is in a dedicated console constructed for said purpose.

Abnormal isn't the right word to use.

Since a personal computer encompasses all sorts of different tasks, it's perfectly natural that there could be games and or gamers for it.

I dont game on PC much but I dont see the point of what you said. Why cant a PC be an entertainment system? There are people who use it for work (My MacBook Pro) then there are people who use it for gaming (My PC). I dont see a problem with this.

A moron? Consoles have Operating Systems impervious to the viruses of Macs and Windows based personal computers, how exactly is it a crappy pc when it delivers a virus safe playground dedicated for video games?

Lol. They'd be awesome looking graphics on those spreadsheets. I don't get threads like this... If you don't like gaming on PC then don't. Pretty simple. Why do you have to start threads basically saying us PC gamers are abnormal. I don't get it.

This, PC is a multifunctional device, it's primary function is defined by the user, and I see no reason why that wouldn't be gaming...

I sort of see where you're coming from, a dedicated system is preferable, and easier. But the outdated hardware is a huge inconvenience so I just can't live with just console gaming.

A PC is a very flexible machine, it can do almost everything, gaming is one of those things, this isn't a bad thing lol.

virus safe playground dedicated for video games?TheOldOlder

At this point, it's preference. Yes, what you say is an advantage of console gaming for sure. But being virus safe is part of being a closed platform.

PC's are an open platform and host many many advantages.

Look at two games for both xbox and PC and you'll see an example of open vs closed platform:

1) Team Fortress 2. The xbox version is lagging behind the PC because Valve can freely update the content of their game at a regular basis.

2) Minecraft. The mod community (and adventure mode community) is HUGE.

The openness of the platform leads to some memorable experiences that you simply cannot have on a console.

This is why, though I have both consoles and a PC, the PC is my main platform of choice. It offers me the deepest experience.

Ok. The reason I have a dedicated PC for gaming is because I like the experience of gaming better on a PC. Simple as tthat.

What are you trying to prove?

360 and PS3 owners are begging for Bayonetta 2 atm, a game announced to be Wii-U exclusive. Does their begging has anything to do with shrinking of console market, or decline in development support?

Or do they just want a good game on their platforms?

Gabe Newell on the piracy "issue"

He provides a quite interesting insight on piracy, as a man from a company that decided to almost give up on retail based releases as their main business strategy in exchange for the piracy proof digital distribution system that steam proposes. It is true that piracy stems from many factors but in the end its such a huge massive *****load of ****. That some devs stay away from the patform altogether, while going entirely or mostly DD only does help preveinting piracy it doesnt stop it, it can not be stopped and it grows every generation.

Ubisoft is tired as hell from pc piracy, i wouldnt be surprised if they dont release ACIII on PC at all. They probably will nonetheless, because they confirmed it'd come out at a later date, if i was in charge i simply would not bother and simply deny the franchise to the PC market like Gearbox did with gears of war after the piracy fiasco they suffered with the first game.

Impervious is perhaps a hiperbole, i understand. Although, there is no such thing as a 100% safe OS or network. Although the Xbox 360 and PS3 are generally safe from such things.

X86 based PC scales from phones to super computers. The main benefits of X86 instruction set is it's instruction compression e.g. a single instruction issue that can load, store and apply math operation. X86 instruction set has other single instuction with combo operations. With RISC based CPUs, you have atleast to issue 3 instructions to load, store and apply a math operation. The X86 instruction set conserves instruction issue slots and storage (memory and cache).

X86 instruction gets decoded into RISC like operations(1) within the CPU core i.e. it has the best of both worlds.

Nope, DD systems like Steam aren't piracy proof...

Ubisoft just permanently dropped their AO-DRM crap, guess they finally learned their lesson, how it did far more harm than good...

You still haven't provided any proof about the decline PC development support...

Yep, console networks are entirely safe! ;)

It's all a matter of preference really. For example, I don't like the idea of being hunched over staring at a computer for hours but even then nowadays most current tv's can be hooked up to pc's.

[QUOTE="ronvalencia"]PC dominates Japanese visual novel games... TheOldOlder

Are we talking about those japanese rape sims they showed on fox news a few of years ago? With those doll like children figures being brutally raped and murdered... i dont even want to go there but well that has nothing to do with anything.

That's not a visual novel game LOL...

Note that Hollywood has movies that depicts brutal rape and murder. Some ratings agencies has double standards/hypocrites.

[QUOTE="Rocker6"]Also, tired of this "rampant piracy" crap...TheOldOlder

Oh my fellow poster, publishers are tired of that piracy crap as well, more and more of them refuse to take part in this charade every year.

I guess you never heard of Steam then.
