What do you guys think about GeoW 2 :D ?, I wanna see the new destructable enviroments,the new physics, water effect,and how epic is using the euphoria engine with gears 2,I don't talk about that much of the gameplay because gears doesnt need to prove anything..,we all know how bad ass its gameplay is.. and Cliff B said that is going to be more bad ass than the first one.., I hope they improve the online multiplayer even more..ohh and this new enemies look to be more bad ass than the brumacks.. discuss :D.I wish it could come out at the same time for PC..but not happening any time soon :(.

RE5 is a survival horror with shooter elements..but it doesn't make it a shooter at all..is mass effect a shooter because it has guns?

Yes, but the way the original thread title was worded implied that the term "gameplay" was being used to describe the "The console king of third person shooters" and not as a noun.

See this is picky with third person shooters. Technically there are a bunch of them

Resident Evil 4 and probably 5 play alot more like third person shooters, with a survival horror feel(although nothing like RE 1 throuch Code Veronica)

Metal Gear Solid is more cinematic and stealth, but the action and shooting make it a third person shooter.

Grand Theft Auto 4 is a sandbox game, yet once again third person shooter.

Personally i would say that games like Graw and Socom are third person shooters with a more tactical feel, with Gears of War being a halo like third person shooter.

Ok...since now all games with guns are shooter.

So because you have to do puzzles, it completely disregards that shooting is not a main element of the gameplay?

You call it a puzzle game, GoW franchise isn't an action adventure game because there are puzzles in it.. don't you knowwwW?
