Stranglehold Minimum PC requirements

OS: Windows XP SP2 / Vista
CPU: Dual Core Processor
RAM: 2 GB RAM
Video: Nvidia 7800 or higher / ATI x1300 or higher
Disk space: 15 GB

I'll admit, the game sure is pretty, but that's a lot of RAMs and literally tons of the Gigs! My old rig is like a gaming caveman compared to that. Looks like I'm sticking to the PLAYSTATION 3 version

Its funny how PC gamers have to spend hundreds of Dollars to keep up with a Xbox 360/PS3 in terms of Power.

PC gaming is dieing, thats why Dev's said Consoles will pave the way to how PC games will look because, Console games sell, and PC games don't.

Whats the point of this thread? A PC with those specs is extraordinarily cheap.

If you don't have 15Gbs of space on your hard drive...just spend $50 on another 250 gigs...

2 gigs of Ram is a lot? I've been using that much for over 3 years now. Learn to upgrade your PC more then every 5 years.

How is a 7800 in any way comparable to a X1300? A 7800 is better than a X1800.......doesn't make any sense at all.

The reason the minimum reqs areso high is because its a **** console port with little in the way of optimizng like tons of other console ports.

PC gaming is not dying, as the years go on PC gaming will be more popular. I predict consoles are going to become more casual because that's where the big money is. Hardcore gamers will be left with only one hardcore platform to turn to, the PC. Besides, games are made on the PC and PC gaming has a HUGE install base. Subscribers to MMORPG's alone won't let it die, not to mention First Person Shooters and RTS's are still way more popular and better then console versions.

EDIT. Glitchspot, I swear it glitches 80% of the time with me.

TFRAGZON

PC gaming is not dieing, it was just that game that was not well optimized, very very badly optimized.

I mean, look at the minimum for STALKER:

OS: Windows 2000 SP4

CPU: Pentium 4 2Ghz/ AMD XP 2200+

RAM: 512 MB

Video: Geforce 5700/ATI Radeon 9600/128MB DirectX 9c compatible

Disk Space: 10 GB

Now this was built ground up for the computer, making it well optimized and it is easily played on low end systems. But look how terribly Stranglehold is optimized. If they put some work into, I think they could have gotten the requirements down to about here.

It was built in late 2002. It'll soon be a caveman soon. :(

I think you're right about those specs. That seems more of a maximum than minimum.

I did a quick check on newegg this is the death of pc gaming lmao

2 gigs of good ram

Dual cpu that oc to 3.2GHz with the above ramand this heatsinkwith artic silver and a cheap fan

This is more than you need and oc to xtx speed stable as well for under $200

If you don't have 15gb of space in 2007 try this for under $100

This is a low end pc that will run any game at medium to high well into 2008 for cheap. Pc gaming dead don't make me laugh if you really look the pricesare even cheaper

ps some of these items have a bundle item to boot !!

Actually no, STALKER could not be played fine on a low end computer, I played that game and I met the minimum specifications expect I had a better CPU. Though I stopped playing it in the middle, the game looked horrible and at the point were I stopped I couldn't play it any more due to get 1-2 fps, therefore STALKER couldn't have been played fully on the minimum specifications.

Have you considered that this may be a poorly optimized port? Since, of course, consoles are the lead platform?

its not that high any more, pretty similar to what consoles have, the 7800 came out june 2005, its now 2007 and there are many card that are as fast now, dual cores are dirt cheap ram is drit cheap, hard drives are dirt cheap also there is no way that a x1300 can run it and a 7600 can't

It doesn't matter how much it costs, how the hell is ONE game using 15GB? That's ridiculous, I could install 3 or 4 games that are just as good, maybe even better than that game that would take less space than that combined.
