The Death of the Wii?

Hi all!

I was thinking about something with the recent unveiling of the Wii U. Beyond The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, I'm not hearing much about any more major games coming out for the original Wii. Now that the Wii U has been announced, do you think Nintendo will start withdrawing resources from the original Wii after Zelda in order to start focusing more on the Wii U?

It has the same shelf space as the ps2 at bestbuy, so i'd say it is dead.

With the majority good game producer for the wii jumping ship (Nintendy) there is going to be a starck drop in support from 3rd party too.

I wonder if the Wii U will be BC with Wii and GC games. I hope so. I have been considering getting my kids a Wii after I get a PS3 because it is only $150 and comes with Mario Kart. But if the Wii U has BC, I see no point in getting the Wii when I can just wait and get the Wii U and then get the few Wii games I wouldn't mind playing.

I'm lookin forward to Skyward Sword, Kirby, Dragon Quest X and hopefully the localization of games like The Last Story and Xenoblade. That's it. I bought my Wii as a 1st party Nintendo box and it has done much more than pay itself off, plus there were a few good 3rd party titles here and there. I've gotten more than enough out of the Wii and I'm ready to move on so I do hope Ninty start pushing heavy resources to the WiiU.

I wouldn't call it dead yet though. Not for me anyways. Those five exclusive Wii titles I'm looking forward to are more than what I have to look forward too on PS3/360. 360 has Forza 4 and that's it for me. Then PS3 has The Last Guardian and hopefully Ni No Kuni gets localized. Everything else I want is multiplat and most of them will be better on my PC.

I think it's on its way out personally.
