The diablo killer one week preview at 1up

Hellgate london could be a big time goty contender for 2007. This could be the pinnacle of the blending of many genres, into one, making one of the greatest games of all time. Formed by some of the head's of blizzard north (the creators of diablo, and diablo 2) have been making a game for around 4 years. A very widely known status for making goty contenders, and for its new creativity can actually win won. This, mass effect, lair, heavenly sword,  and crysis are the best known original ip's this year. It appears though that this game will most likely sell the most out of all 5 of the new ip's.

This game will be the best game this year and for quite some time if it lives up to D2s legacy.

Awesome.

And what is exciting about mass effect? It is just a blatantly the same game as kotor with better graphics. There isn't any originality to the game, unlike this.nextgengaming18

Mass Effect has the story, where as I have yet to see anything even remotely interesting with  Hellgate London's story. Even then, KOTOR was hardly a hack 'n' slash game, as it divided the gameplay up with conversations, puzzle solving, and exploring.

Its made by some of the original guys who did diablo and d2, if anything has a chance to kill diablo this is it.

isnt this coming to xbox 360 also if so ill be really happy theres this game called sacred 2 or sometin comin for xbox 360 spose to be like diablo and its got online too im waiting for that game alsothizzinpeace

Diablo II was basically the same, but it still is one of the best games I have ever played. Games can be great with more simplistic gameplay, if Diablo II isn't a good enough example, just look at Serious Sam.smokeydabear076

Diablo 2 was a Diablo killer. Nothing has killed Diablo 2 and this is the only thing that looks like it stands a chance. Also CS 1.6 and source illustrate just how hard it is to kill a very very old game. 

Uh Diablo killer? Pretty easy to kill a game that's very, very old.

do you knwo what mindless grinding means? its like if you just grind your lvl in WOW or in Diablo or just grinding for loot. too human to me has the same type of game play. since you do gain lvls and loot etc. alfy13

I don't think it was ever made official that there is a definite port, but Namco Bandai said they wanted to port it to 360.

Then Hellgate:London isnt a hack'n'slash grindfest either.

Hellgate:London won nominations for Best PC game and Best RPG from the official E3 critics. Along with Best RPG's were heavy weights like Mass Effect, FF XII, and World of Warcraft expansion.

I can see how the game might not appeal to you, but i cant see how any of those nominated games are bad. 

I'm not too interested in this either. Though I may pick it up if the online is free. I've heard stuff about subscription fees, and I'm not touching if it's true. >_>PannicAtack

I hope there aren't subscription fees, but haven't read anything definite. That would make me seriously reconsider picking up the game if it isn't reviewed as vastly superior to D2.

I guess you will never understand what mindless fun is all about. The first FPS games lacked in storyline, but delivered in the gameplay and fun factor. Some people are looking for fun and others a story. You seem to be looking for a story, so these games will probably never fit your taste.smokeydabear076

It might have a great story it might not. Same can be said about mass effect too.

Mass Effect is a trilogy with a prequel book releasing, and it's made by (IMO) the greatest story telling developers out there, Bioware.

Why put down one game to bring another game up. Mass Effect, HG: L, and Too Human are all going to be great in their own ways. Mass Effect will have the huge open world and story locked down, HG: L will have great D2 style multiplayer  with randomized maps and items, Too Human will have complex combat coupled with heavy RPG leveling, skill trees, and item drops.

BTW I hope HG:L takes players away from WoW, so Blizzard can get off their greedy asses and make SC2 and D3 already.
