The Division on PC and PS4 look a gen apart

Literally looks like you're comparing a PS3 to a PS4 game. I had downloaded on PC first, then on PS4 to play with a few of my boys and woah was I astonished how bad the game looks on PS4. It looks a lot worse than Second Son and way, way, way worse than the reveal trailers. Every screen shot alternates between PS4 and PC. First one is PS4 but I shouldn't even need to tell you that.

Would be nice to see a direct comparison. Those screens are from different scenes.

I don't think it looks that bad...though I'm shocked a game has better visuals on PC.

I'm with Clyde on the odd comparison as well.

I wanted to try the open beta on my ps4 but the controller broke... Played the closed beta on pc and thought it looked bad even for today standards. Nothing in that game looks good but lighting.

My friends were bugging me to join them but I don't wish to get sucked into buying this. I need to pass on some games due to financial reasons. QB and Uncharted 4 are planned for and that's it for the foreseeable future.

First off, it's generally no real comparison between PC and console; PC generally has the better looks. That's not me being a PC gaming master race douche, that's just common knowledge.

Second, need some direct comparison screens, otherwise it is a bit tough to casually compare the two.

Third, who cares? How is the gameplay?

Hermits have a very different perspective on what a generational difference is.

I played it on PC (I5 4590, R9 290) and on XBOX One. I have a ps4 but I don't like the controller for shooters.
Comparing the PC to XBOX One I didn't really notice a huge difference in graphical quality. The frame rate was definitely higher and thus the game felt smoother but as far as just the visuals of the game it didn't look all that different to me.

I plan to get the game on xbox though because that is where my friends will be playing. The game doesn't look bad on either platform but it didn't blow me away either. Compared to Rise of the Tomb Raider, MGS V, or The Witcher 3 on PC, The Division just doesn't stand out. That said the game is a ton of fun.

I mean yea it looks better but generation is a stretch. It's just a resolution bump mostly, everything else is trivial improvements of tech here and there, and in motion they aren't so hugely different that you need to drop everything and get a gaming PC unless you're an enthusiast.

I was disappointed at the ps4 graphics.. Ubisoft really showed PC gameplay for their ps4 videos, or it had a massive downgrade

Well I'm still getting PS4 version since my friends are. Playing with people you know and are friends with trumps any graphics difference to me.

@Juub1990: Curious why you would compare it to second son? Second Son is arguably still the best looking open world game on the PS4 so are you surprised a multiplat from Ubisoft looks worse?

@Quicksilver128: Yes. Second Son came out 2 years ago and The Division before release was apparently shaping up to be the greatest looking game of all time for a while.

LOL yea but you said it looked worse then Second Son like that's a bad thing. Second Son is still looking better then just about every open world game on that console. You should say something like " it manages to look worse then AC unity" which is made by the same company and came out over a year ago.

Dont know about gen apart, sure it does look better and runs smoother, but you also need a quite high end rig to get to enjoy those. From what I've heard 970 isnt even enough to max 1080p

Your comparison is off. Doesn't look a gen apart. Anyway gameplay is more important than graphics. I could see if it looked like a PS2 game or earlier. Why are (some) PC gamers so insecure? Play your games and have fun....why compare to consoles all the time?

PC games are made to be played on less than beefy PCs. Don't blame consoles for that. There is no one version that they devs can optimize the game for and instead they need to make sure it runs on cheaper PCs.

Surely the graphics are good enough either way. What I wish people would actually discuss is wether the game is any good or not.

Well, if games in your PC look like they look in console then you got a fucked up really low end PC.

I played the beta on both pc and ps4 as well. The pc version does look better (hurr durr surprise surprise) but the difference is nowhere near as big as you claim. In fact you barely even notice it while you play.

Digital Foundry is full of shit. They posted some bullshit video saying an i7 4790K and a 980Ti couldn't run the game at Ultra and 1440p at a locked 60fps. But there are some PC gamers in another thread here saying that they are playing it at a steady 60. DF is obviously against PC gaming. I mean look at this crap!! According to DF you can't even run at "High" settings at 1440p and a good frame rate with those specs. They are obviously lying. Thank goodness we have some intelligent SW Users here to set the record straight.
