Blu-ray could be coming back to bite Sony and all of its supporters in the rear, this is indeed big as it relates and favors HD DVD rather than Blu-ray.Pro_wrestler

Did you even read the story? It's not even HD DVD they are adopting.

If anything this is a big hit to HD DVD. Instead of them adopting HD DVD as their choice they went ahead and made their own player lol.

[QUOTE="Videodogg"]this news is very relevent to this forum because Sony has made it relevent to their console; this Christmas HDDVD's are going to be flying off the shelves for a $200.00 price tag:)darthogre

lol, I just read that Walmart was not intrested in this player. They said if it was a NAMED brand player they would be intrested.

hell if you are dissed by Wal-Mart that has to be one big POS player.

Nevermind the fact that the $200 never turned out to be legitimate (which was really funny, because I said it wasn't real and people kept swearing that it was HDDVD and that was the end of the format war).

Also, just because a group within China produces a new format doesn't even remotely mean that it's going to take off. A few years ago, China produced the EVD....yeah, we're all use EVD players now.

But they did invent the Chinese Super Buffet which is widely adopted in the United States. So they got that going for them, which is nice.

[QUOTE="Videodogg"]China has adopted HDDVD as their new format ; to me this looks like a cold war between Japn and China!Video_Game_King

link or it didnt happen. also, this is a games forum, whats blu ray have to do with it? take this to next gen movie format wars.com, and maybe this will be on topic

*coughs quite loudly*

i followed your *cough* to a playstation 3 wikipedia page. thanks, but last timei checked the system wars rules blu ray has nothing to do with who wins.

Its the format of the Playstation 3 and therefore relevant. In fact, I believe it decided the fifth generation of video games.

No. It was backwards compatibility and tons of great games that supported Japan and America in major ways. DVD contributed. No system could even survive with just a DVD player, no matter how important it was.

Being a blue ray player is one of ps3's main selling points, if it loses the format war, it loses a large number of its sales, likely to M$
